Only a Rumour but heard Brett Moloney, Wants to come back to us.
Probley not true but regardless. What would we give up for him, he did and would suit us well

Well, I'd be quite surprised if BRENT did want to come back. He was happy to go to Melbourne at the time.

And to get him back, even though he's done NOTHING since joining them, they'd be asking for way too much.

Besides, we have an upgrade who goes by the name of Prismall.

Hasn't he had osteitis pubis? Would we want to take that sort of risk?

He did finish 4th in our B&F last year, this year has had OP again and only played 607 games.
Does the thread starter know the reason for the rumour?

Would love to have him back - fit. We have missed his penetrating kicking into the forward line rather than the chip-chip crap that we have recently been doing. I am sure that N.Ablett, Mooney and Hawkins would love to have someone get the ball in quickly so they could be one out.

What would we give up? 2nd round pick

no wonder he has OP

The reason he was traded in the first place was because he represented a type of player we had in abundance. So getting him back is a step backwards. I think your rumor, like most rumors we have heard this year, is a load of rubbish.

Wrong.

You can call him a sniper for his hit on Bartel, but at least he does go hard at the footy and shows a bit of aggression and fight.

When you compare him to the likes of Kelly, Tenace, Byrnes and I think even Prismall, he has something we desperately need in the midfield.

Sure, he is a bit of a one trick pony, but he runs and carries the ball and when he's on, it's a very good trick to have.

At what cost? Well that's the question, i suppose.

Brent Moloney is a gun! I'd be very happy to have him back.

I agree, i'm sick of the chipping around. Moloney was great coz he never stuffs around with it.

Actually he wasn't happy to go at all. I remember Thompson and him were crying about it at the time. Thompson said it was his hardest decision he had ever had to make.

In a heart beat

Moloney is a gun. He was a Melbourne supporter growing up and got much more of a go their than he did in Geelong.Might be good for his career to move back though. If fit he would be a certain starter.

Moloney is 1st round material.

He's somewhat one dimensional, but its the right sort of one dimensional that actually can be made to work for you.

He is a beautiful long kick, never stuffs around with it, is very strong and runs direct through traffic. I don't see it as a bad thing that is not suited to crap sideways football. We have enough of the Ling, Corey types that get those sort of possessions, which every team needs and which are prone to overuse when things arent going well. He complemented them well and would do so again.

I'd do it strait away. I think that would nearly get him as well. He is everything Geelong don't have at the moment. Carries the ball, Kicks long and has a fair bit of speed.

Moloney is not first-round material, not after the year he has had.

We could get him back for a second round, but I personally wouldn't give it. I'd warm to the idea of giving them Kelly, though.

I agree, hardness at the ball in the midfield is what we are severly lacking, the only question i would have is that he seems a bit injury prone, mind you the hard nuts often are.

I wouldn't say we lack hardness at the ball completely. We have Bartel, Rooke, Chappy(when in the mid-field) and Ablett(when he plays there). I think Next year Mooney should play more a midfield role. Peoples thoughts. Althought he is good in the forward line.

Let me check my comment, hardness at the ball and a ball carrier.

My thoughts on Mooney, I prefer him at CHF, the game has quickened up a bit for him in the last 2 years IMO

Yeah i certainly agree that we need a couple of ball carriers. We need Tenace to step up next year.

The one thing he would bring is he is prepared to run and bounce. Something we dont do at all. And he seemed to be well liked by the rest of the boys.

Certainly wouldn't give up a first round pick, probably not even a second. (considering this is a "super draft" where a second pick could be a top 10 in other drafts)
If we gave up Kelly for him Id want a 3rd round pick aswell.

Curious, how would it be better for his career?
At Melbourne he is among the first picked and when fit is generally one of our starters in the centre square for each game. He is held in pretty high regards at the MFC. From what I've heard from Cats supporters he wouldn't be as high in the pecking order in terms of selection.
