Possible chase targets would have to include:

J. Carr
T. Stenglein
H. Black
S. Armstrong
J. Hay

All those guys are out of contract at the end of the year as far as i know. Maybe not Armstrong. But i'm not sure.

Is this any actual documented tactic for Freo?
Trade off/delist guys with potential until they get good and then try to get them back for more than you gave them up for?

Except in the case of croad where you do it the opposite way around but still end up getting screwed

Your clubs a joke

Black wanted to go back home.
Then he wanted to go back to freo.

It's got nothing to do with any tactics.

Your attempted troll is a joke.

I'd keep Medhurst and Headland, they have some great talent in them but they get too cocky most of the time. That's why this year should be a real boost for their skills...hopefully.

Simmonds would be a great CHF but may become useless as we progress, leave Jlo coz He's great all over the ground.

Simmonds a great CHF? I don't think so. One, he drops too many marks and two, his lateral or sideways movement is so slow it ain't funny. It takes him an hour just to turn around.

And when has Headland been cocky? He has tried his guts out particularly in the 2nd half of the season and whenever I hear him, he sounds very modest. Give the guy a break, he was actually pretty good over the 2nd half of the year.

Agree has been disappointing

Got better and better as he got some fitness back after his ankle. The Saints game was probably his best for Freo. He got the most Contested ball gets of anyone on the team and laid 7 tackles.

I'm always surprised when people mention a very average player in relation to recruiting a "gun" player.
They then think, "woops", a dud like ******* will never be enough to tempt XYZ club. So lets offer ******* AND *******, 2 duds, to XYZ club to get that "gun" player.

Why on earth would any club accept that come trade time?

Why on earth would any club accept EVEN 10 dud players for a "gun" player?

To trade for a "gun" player, you must offer quality, to get quality.

Port has already proved that come trade time

Yea they sure have proved that - "traded" a top player (Stevens) for zero :)

sorry mate couldnt resist that - but anyway agree with your comments apart from that last line

We'll take Medhurst off your hands for Hargrave or Robbins and a forth rounder.

What would you guys want for Ryley Dunn and Ryan Murphy?

Cant see us trading either of them
Dunn is the type of player we are crying out for.
Murphy is consistently kicking 4 goals a game while still being the rawest player on our list.
He was a surprise pick but I think in a few years time people will be thinking why did we overlook this guy.

If Dunn is the type of player you CRYING OUT for why have you not been playing him.Because he is not ready. You guys need are quality mature tough mid NOW not in a couple of years. A Jude Bolton Type.To get him you must cash in a couple "down the trackers" for picks and on trade. Give you our first round for him.
TIP Get something before he runs out of contract and wants to come back to Vic.

Murphy has the sound of a potential forward but he is yet to show it at AFL level. As you say , he needs time. We have a few in the same situation but none were picked as early as M. Probably not quite right for us but would look at him if he was OTM.

No... he played the first couple of games, went back to the WAFL, then broke his collarbone. Then there was some complication and it wasn't healing properly and he was placed on the long term injury list.

On Simmonds, from where I'm sitting, as a forward he's a Troy Wilson or a Glen Jakovich- reasonably productive, good enough to pinch hit, but suffering from defects that make it impossible for him to ever be a long term class forward in a finals side- he's a ruckman pinchhitting forward, not a forward.

Its a nasty trap to fall into, and one West Coast fell for all of last year- you take a guy who is not a genuine key forward and use him in that position because he's initially more productive than a youngster would be. Because he has no real prospect of developing into someone permanently capable of dominating that position, eventually you have to make a change and that hurts you a lot, because the really good forwards tend ot have a high level of understanding with the rest of their team which develops over time- Lloyd is a great forward not just because he's a quick lead, strong mark and excellent kick, but because he is totally in sync with the rest of the Essendon team- switch him to another side and he'd be a 40 or 50 goal a year player for a season or two whilst he gelled with the new side.

If I were the Fremantle coach (and every day I thank every deity I can think of that I'm not :D), I would put Murphy to FF, McPharlin to CHF, move Pavlich permanently to defence, and trade Simmonds for Josh Carr. Use Longmuir mostly as a ruckman alternating with Sandilands whilst he develops.

I'd then stick with the Murphy/McPharlin (and J. Longmuir resting in the pocket) forward structure for at least the first 10 weeks of next year- The only way of developing a forward line is to select the kids who look most likely to be able to develop into complete key forwards, and then leave them there for the team to get used to.

As an outsider looking in I think you need to look at off loading the following

1. Medhurst
2. Farmer
3. Headland
4. McManus

Would hate to know what you were paying those four guys!!!

P.s. You do not play Ruckman in Key positions, so maybe offload Longmuir or Simmonds. Would be worth heaps on the market.

Big call! Of those I'd hang on to McManus of all people. Let the bloke play out his career with the Dockers.

I agree with almost all that. I wouldn't mind keeping Simmonds though. I'm not totally convinced with Sandi just yet.

It seems that if we trade heavily to get a player we get done, have to offload a player who wants to leave; we get done. We are average at trading.

How about we stay off the trading for the most part but if the othe sides can't come to an arrangement and need a third party (to be overpaid) to sweeten the deal then there we are. With several new coaches wanting to recruit heavily and few genuine players on the market they will need some pretty big carrots. Just for once I would like us to not be so desperate.

On the subject I wouldn't mind offloading farmer but would want to keep medhurst. Snake is expendable and his swapping for a decent midfielder would make our team more balanced. Though now that Simmonds is maturing into a physical player I have second thoughts.

I would gladly take Farmer and we would give you Armstrong u couldn't throw in a very late draft pick as well could u

Done

In the draft Jordan Lewis is our man, 187cm 86kg tough inside midfielder who doesn't mind laying some hip and shoulders, im just unsure if he will be available or not.

Darren Rumble from Subi has impressed me every time i have seen him and is only 19. He plays similarly to someone like Darren Glass, he just focuses on his man and is built like a brick ********house. Does anyone know whether he would be a shot?
