Darling for Ellis-Yolmen? Not srs surely?Pick 12 and 34 for 2 picks in the late teens/20s
Pick 12 + Mackenzie/Masten/<insert random player> for a pick upgrade
Pick 34 + Mackenzie/Masten/<insert random player>
Pick 34 + 2017 2nd round pick for 2016 1st round pick
Darling for Ellis-Yolman
The first and the last scenarios being the most realistic/beneficial trades.
Obviously they see this as a deep draft but that is rather weird.View attachment 303250
This trade has me baffled.
Carltons 2nd round pick next year which will likely be low 20's for 48,66 and 70
WTF were they thinking
Done deal if the Gibbs trade went through. Pity.Darling for Ellis-Yolmen? Not srs surely?

Au contraire - that's exactly the kind of error riddled shit you should expect from an afl.com column guestExpected more from an AFL.com column guest!!!!

They obviously went to the Collingwood school of list managementView attachment 303250

Maybe SoS forgot he wasn't with GWS anymore and thought he needed the extra picks for points? But seriously that is some dodgy shit, the AFL should investigate that trade
I looked up the points value of picks to try and explain it, but Carlton's picks only add up to a bit over half what the 2017 pick they gave away will be worth.
Going to have to wait till draft day to see what they're thinking (and if nothing turns up there then there must be some sort of handshake deal going on for something in the future).
Yeh, some very questionable decisions made. Thankfully not by us thoughA few possibly dodgy deals going on with the Hawks when you consider the Vickery trade was possibly a bit suss as reported in the Media as well.
Overall though there were quite a few strange trades for different reasons this year with teams giving away players for unders due salary cap purposes, paying overs if the other team pays part of the salary and academy pick trading.
Then of course there was the extremely weird case of the Chris Mayne contract by Collingwood
But seriously that is some dodgy shit, the AFL should investigate that trade
Nothing will happen though seeing as its Hawthorn.Trades makes absolutely zero sense.
99.99% there's some shady gentlemen's agreement.
I look forward to Parto, Nelson or Duggs taking Mastens spot next year. Happy for him to play out his career at EP or just retire out of frustration don't really care.

I do not believe this. Where do you get your information? If this had happened I would have been very, very unhappy with this trade period, and I think Terry would have given us an 'e' instead of an 'a'. A young key fwd capable of kicking 50+ goals per year (as rare as hen's teeth) for a depth midfielder who may not be afl standard and cannot get a game at his present club. Yuk! Clarkson was a bit out there with his trades but whoever did this would be out there and half way to the moon.Might have had to do like a second round pick swap to sweeten it but that would have been our starting point.
Yeah, yuck comment by Sam, probably due to NN injury people are completely writing us off.View attachment 303269
Rates the crows a contender except us LOL. Adelaide were pretty lucky they had no injuries to their midfield. I don't think they will be that great with Thommo on the downward spiral and maybe even jacobs. One injury to either crouch bro or sloane will derail them.
WTF were they thinking
Wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones that came up with it. Don't they go into mediation of they can't agree to a deal? Everything the AFL do now days is to save their own reputation and for theatre and money. Can't have a big name not getting to his destination in trade period. Better to screw Carlton over and have the theatre of it being a last minute deal even if it makes absolutely no sense. There is absolutely no way SoS agrees to the Hawks deal but not the Gibbs for pick 13. I agree that the whole thing looks very dodgy but like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if it came from the top.But seriously that is some dodgy shit, the AFL should investigate that trade
