Well, there you go Biggie we haven't been active enough.....
Why are the moderators on here often some of the biggest smart asses?

How does Mitchell coming in - as great as it is - give us more draft picks in a strong draft?

Are you happy for us to have potentially one live pick in the first 70 picks (after using picks for Waterman and Mitchell)?

Are you happy for one of Mackenzie, Barrass or Schofield to play large portions of the season in the WAFL?

We are not trading out our first two rounders in the Mitchell trade so as it stands we'll have two picks to use before Waterman is drafted (he won't be a second round pick).

To be fair the trade period has a week to go and there's been a total of 2 trades done from the whole comp so far

So reported Patfull has retired from GWS. They are also loosing Marchbank another KP defender.

Patfull played 22 games last season.

Opens the door for MacKenzie.

MacKenzie + 31 (now 35 and growing) for pick 15 + Pickett. Pickett requested a trade to Carlton so he's gettable but has a serious injury issue.

Keep pick 12, get 15 and get Waterman with our 3rd.

I heard GWS list manager about a week or so ago saying they're not after any players this trade period because of salary cap restrictions.

I agree EMac does seem a good fit for them though.

I've hated Mitchell since he started kneeing people.

I'm happy to overlook that so long as he doesn't do it again.

Just you watch the MRP smash Mitchell for every minor altercation.

He's about to loose his Victorian get out of jail free card.

how will we bid on waterman if we use our third rounder for Mitchell?

Because we watch the same drivel, ad infinitum, from many posters, not saying just one.
Seeing action for action's sake isn't always productive.
Mitchell, if it eventuates, seems a very astute move in terms of a skillset we are looking for and imparting knowledge and thinking style to the player group could have positive repercussions.

Jesus christ, you have a day off from Bigfooty and all hell breaks loose. We make a smart risk-free move (assuming a low pick is involved) to bring in a mentor and leader for our young guys and Collingwood goes full r****d over f****** Chris Mayne of all people.
bit in your opinion isn't mitchell too old ?

We would have received pick 35 (which will probably get knocked down a few more notches by end of trade period) if we'd shipped off Mayne the same way Freo did.
We'd likely get the same if Masten or Emac left, and personally I'd rather keep them.

What we need are GCs 20s picks (SPP and Bolton should still be available then) and that'll only happen by giving up pick 12 and maybe some extra, which I'd love for us to do.

This obviously depends on Emac and whether Brown stays or not.
Picks 12 + 34 to Brisbane for 19 + 21. Then trade 19 + Emac to Adelaide for 13. We end up with picks 13 and 21. Never know might work - if Freo can get that much for pick 3 there is hope for everybody else.

I'd be happy for the Eagles to pay some of Emc's salary to "buy" pick 15 so to speak.

Other clubs use dollars to buy players, we all know 95% of players aren't interested in coming to Perth in trades so we should be creative with some of our salary cap to "create" more opportunities to land better picks.

This could be that opportunity, hell we need to get creative people. Adapt and deal with the tools we have available. Not sulk because all the expat young WA guns don't want to come home and would rather stay / play in Melbourne.

Hill to Freo for pick 23 confirmed.

Freo paying $4.00 to make the eight next year. With a fit Fyfe and some handy supporting pieces coming into the club, I think I'll have to chuck some money down on them.

Essentially works out Hill for Mayne.
2 trades steals already for freo

Freo trading themselves out of the draft - have to wonder if it's the correct decision instead of not going through a proper rebuild. Yes they could be good next year but mccarthy/hill/kersten/bennell all have massive question marks over them

Fremantle are an interesting one. On face value, it looks like they're doing a decent job but let's not forget, they've got next to no depth. They've added a young KPF who needs to add a significant amount of bulk to play as a true KPF (you could also argue he's mentally weak), added an outside midfielder who floats in and out of games, are targeting (to date) a mediocre forward looking to come home and are looking at a depth option with the Bulldogs. Don't forget, they've had some significant list turnover which means the additions may not necessarily outweigh the subtractions.

Fremantle's major improvement will come from Nat Fyfe. Harley Bennell is a question mark but if he's able to show any of the top form he demonstrated for the Suns, that's a significant in. I like what Fremantle is doing but I'm not prepared to adjust them as a top 8 football team on the strength of a few moves especially when Lyon believes the team departed too far from its identity. We already know his gameplan doesn't hold up in September. Either way, the moves are a rejuvenating affair for Freo and they should enjoy their grace period.

There is no reason those guys should be playing WAFL for large chunks, it will be up to them.
Yes it is a strong draft apparently but who really knows? At the end of the day they are all kids with unknown futures.
The draft is not important to every club every year, circumstances dictate to what path clubs take, look at the Hawks who have not cared about the draft for 4 years, there priority was winning premierships and trading in and out to achieve that.
If you forever rely on the draft you will never win a flag, you will always be waiting on hopefuls. If our club feels it is in a window now and adding a 34 year old Mitchell might help up get closer or to the flag then well done I reckon. Like others have said don't sell the farm but it does not seem we will have to.
Could we trade out a player or two for some picks? Yes of course we could but that seems something our club rarely does.
