The most disappointing thing about this trade period will be missing out on the opportunity to get more picks in the second round.

We desperately need as many picks as possible in this draft but as others have suggested we will more than likely instead carry players like Mackenzie and Masten through to retirement rather than trying to ship them off somewhere else where they might be more valuable.

If Mayne was an Eagle you can almost guarantee that he would be lining up in our hypothetical forward line next year instead of giving us a juicy second round draft pick.

I bet the coaching staff is stung by the Selwood compensation but as much as it wasn't what we expected, Tom Cole is still worth more to us than Scott Selwood is.

Masten and McKenzie are up for trade along with Schofield and Brown . You cant say we havent tried .Thats straight from Haggers mouth when he broke the Mitchell trade

Yes but under the live bidding system we match it with our next available pick and then any points difference either applies to our later picks this year or get applied to a pick next year. On that basis if the deal is right I fully support the use of our second.

If I'm picking (it's always about best available and I'd be looking at something like - to maximise the potential of getting the players I favour at each choice)

1st round: Shai Bolton (Fwd)
2nd round: Willem Drew (Mid)
3rd round: Lachlan Tiziani (Fwd)
4th round/rookie draft: Ben Ronke (Mid)
5th round/rookie draft: Brodie Romensky (Mid/def)

This is who KM would pick if he was our list manager.
