I understand why people are happy about the hawks eating some of his coin - but they're not suckers. Clarkson is making list changes with real confidence and security - if they get the changes right, they'll have the smoothest post-dynasty transition in footy history. Look at Brissy post-glory years - a rabble.

I have a feeling the powers that be at WC see the real chance at a flag next year and whether it's Adams and/or Rocky and/or some other player we don't know about yet, I can see a possibility of not having a 1st rd pick

Agree with this. Hawthorn are looking replace and develop replacements for all their guys over 30.

Mitchell (34) - Gone (Replaced by Tom Mitchell )
Burgoyne (33) - Only 1 year left I'd say (Replaced by O'Meara )
Gibson (32) - 1-2 Max
Hodge (32) - 2-3 Max
Lewis (30) - Probably has about 2-3

Roughead (29) may not play again (Vickery possible Replacement)

Watch them target a few defenders soon

They simply aren't going to replace the likes of the guys listed above, although good on them for going balls to the wall to regenerate the list.

Yeah apparently he makes all the decisions himself apparently with no input from coach, recruiters, list manager. Heck even the board had to approve Mitchell trade.

If the Prestia and O'Meara trade goes through with pick 6 involved from Richmond and pick 10 from Hawthorn Gold Coast will have picks 4, 6, 8, 10, 22, 24, 30 and 44.
That's too many young players in one go. Surely they would be looking at a trade to bring in at least 1 experienced player to offset all these young guys.
Why not a deal with us.

It's not a bad idea but to answer your question 1. Because we might not provide the best mature player of all the clubs looking to snare some of their picks. 2. Because we only have a year or 2 of Mitchell so we're probably a buyer of mature players, not a seller. Draftees wont help us jag a flag in the next 2 seasons.
