Maybe we could have farmed our Mcinness to Brissy or GC for a late pick. Couldve then used that on Vardy (he nominated us so what was Geelong going to do about it?) and then we could have saved the Vardy pick for Waterman.

Feel for Mcinness if we bring in the Dish
We can use 106 for waterman if he gets to 54 so we wouldnt need the Vardy pick to get him in that case

And who the **** would want McInnes

Y we give him new contract then

Lewis Jetta is on $350k per season , Wellingham $400 k , Redden probably $ 300k also .
All three will be looked at in 2017 if good signs aren't there i reckon all three might be gone .
Jetta needs a good pre season obviously and 2017 season , Redden and Wellingham also .
Jetta showed his class late in the season and missing the Elimination final hurt the team but even so he needs a very good pre season .

IF not I expect all three to be looked at as being moved on .

Averag salary is $300k, no way Jetta and Redden on average. More like $400k plus. Also highly doubt they would be moved on, at the very worst they 18-25 - they may just not top 12 players like we hoped they would be.

What are their contracts? If they got given 3 years they aren't going anywhere.

Might be wrong, but wasn't New contract signed in 2015 for 2 years? Probs didn't think he was going to spud it up so bad after showing some signs.

Not sure. Thought it was renewed this year but probably wrong.

I highly doubt guys like Wellingham, Redden or Jetta would be 'moved on'. At worst, their next contract would be reduced and they would become depth.
mmm
Wellingham is valuable - he seems highly under rated on here - he has pace and a quality mindset
Redden - as to improve with a pre-season. He should be a very solid contributor.
Jetta - mostly above the shoulders but if he gets it right he is extremely valuable

We should hear about Butlers situation today
Not necessarily

On 6PR Vozzo said they were having their list management today and they'd talk with butler sometime during the week. As of Saturday he was also in Bali so it might be a day or so before anything becomes official and we hear about it

I think all have value, but even if their output did not increase from this season, they would still be good depth.

I saw a tweet on the weekend from a sport reporter saying butler had re-signed late last week?
There was a tweet from tania Armstrong saying butler will be getting a contract offer

Id have thought with sam mitchell coming in and nelson coming along nicely added to a strong draft year that wed go to the well.

Disappointed tbh

Chris T Meth eh?

You didn't happen to be hanging around the club in the 2000s did you Chris_6678 ?

Butlers good and had a nice year but I would prefer us to bring someone like Cole who can provide us more run out of defence. Our midfield next season will be slow so its important that we have a few flankers providing us with some run and carry and getting their hands on the footy at times. Shep could take over Butler while we can release some one like Cole, Weller's and even bunger to provide some outside run.

Can someone explain why we are so tight on the cap. I hope its just a timing issue where we have front loaded and have plenty of room in years to come, otherwise there is some serious mismanagement of our player contracts. No way this list should be topping out the cap.
The difference between the minimum you can pay of the cap (95%) and the max (100%) is about $500k. How much do you reckon Mitchell is on?

And Ballantyne is reportedly on about that amount too (and wanted multiple years). So it would make sense there is no cap room for him.
Pathetic if he is forced. So Petrie is older and more vital to WCE, meh!
The two have nothing to do with each other. If Petrie is taken it will be as a late rookie on minimum wage, the same as we would pay any other late rookie (which we may well top up with a coaching portion). Butler's contract is unaffected either way.
