Is it possible this is just one component of a much bigger deal?

This is not right if true... after all the grand standing... how could this have happened?

There is more to this... there HAS to be much more to this...

Hawthorn just secured a 10 year gun player for a 2nd round dud draft selection.

Because it's basically Gunston for pick 24. The other two upgrades are pointless in a weak draft. Unless we use this with GWS to get a pick in the MD, I'm very disappointed. Do you think we've done well out of this?

why do you think we were bent over?

We drafted Gunston at pick 25 in a strong draft year and have developed him for two years and he is already showing promise and we essentially traded him for pick 24 in a very weak draft year.

It's a horrible deal.

People need to RELAX and reserve judgement on the Gunna trade until we see what materialises with the incoming picks

We need to wait and see how this shakes out

Thought it was 29? Regardless would have wanted more but I'm holding out on this puzzle coming together..

We got him at pick 29 not 25.

Guys relax!

Its the mega deal broken into smaller pieces. This is just a little piece of the puzzle. The deal on its own cannot be judged because its part of the bigger picture.

We obviously have an agreement in place with all the concerned clubs and we would be getting pick 2 in the mini draft when its all said and done.

I doubt this is the end of it. If is then we got absolutely shagged but I am 100% confident its small part of the bigger picture.

We also need to consider

North were keen on Gunna however they have now moved to Gram so maybe the alternatives also went cold

On the surface yes we would all like a little more however I will reserve my trade judgement until more information becomes available and until we can assess what Adelaide does with those picks

a few assumptions there

1) just because a player was picked "in a strong draft" is really irrelevant - he got picked a 25 (which back then was 2nd round)
2) yes we have and he decided to leave
3) again pick 24 (a 1st rounder in this years draft) isn't shit "because it is a weak draft" I have heard a number of recruiters state that there are plenty of players to be had - there just isn't the calibre at the top end - so your players 1-10 aren't as good but everyone else is about the same

so basically we got rid of Gunston for a 1st round and a couple of sweetners - not ideal but it hardly seems worthy of a hissy fit everyone is having.
