Out of that list I would only be interested in Rosa, Sherman and Walker.

Nice posts PooMonkey:thumbsu:.

Have heard we are in with a huge shot to get Walks, but there are another couple of clubs interested and whoever offers the best deal will end up with him. He's not to fussed where he ends up as long as it's not the Blues.
If that's the case, I guess the message that Ratten doesn't rate Walker has gotten through.

Under contract, so Carlton doesn't have to deal.

Walker has been one of my favourite players since that first game, but a fresh start might be the best thing for both parties.

Thats the reason I've heard.

They don't have to deal, but with the amount of interest, Walker wanting out and the coach not rating him he will be traded.

Agree 100%.

Walker will not be a Blue next season.

As far as I am aware it is basically a two horse race between the Dogs and Crows.

Picks dont seem a likely outcome, as you need your early picks, and the crows have stated publicly that #14 is off the table.....

I would put the Dogs in front if they are willing to trade Everitt.

Hope so, as this would be a trade in the best interests of both clubs.

On the Tigers board they are saying we have offered Robin Nahas a 3 yr deal, surely not the case and although we need a quick small fwd, I don't think he is the one we need.

Sounds exacvtly like what we would use Everitt for???

Besides, we seem to be pretty well covered for flankers coming through at both ends - Wood, Grant, Howard , Tutt. Unless we aimed to use Walker as a mid, id say, why bother?

He doesn't lack intensity like Everitt IMO and with both coaches not rating either player a change in scenery will be good for both.

Walker wouldn't be competing with those four IMO, Grant is a KPF, Wood is going to be a very good defender and Howard and Tutt are still a fair way off showing us where they fit in. The one thing we do lack is outside runners and Walker can do this.

According to some carlton supporter, Walker was dropped this year for not being hard enough.

Im not totally against the idea, I suppose a change of club can be a big motivator for players to impress their new teammates etc...

But I think we have clear needs in other areas that should be looked at as a priority

Everitt to me is one of those who doesn't display the strengths needed in a tall, mid or small.
As a tall, he doesn't crash packs, bring the ball to ground, impose himself.
As a mid, he doesn't cover enough ground, have the tank, make repeated efforts or mentally tough enough to stick to and annoy an opponent.
As a small, he isn't quick, agile, contested ball winner, great decision-maker or elite disposal.

Potentially he can be all of those at an above average level which is Everitt's attraction but what he has displayed thus far is not good enough in any one category let alone all of them (which is probably why he can't get a regular game).

I'm a bit neutral to Walker. I like his speed and versatility but looks to me to struggle to get any better than the bottom third of a (finals) team best 22. At 24yrs, that may be his level. As with all trades, it would depend on who Eade thinks he can get the best out of - Walker, Everitt or Draft Pick.

I know it's an unsubstantiated source but the last thing we need now is another player who won't go in hard or put his head over the ball. On this board that was the recurrent criticism of Hill, Stack and Eagleton and possibly one or two others still on the list.

Can anyone comment on whether Walker is a bit soft in this regard?

The other thing this Walker discussion brings to mind is how shallow the 2003 draft was. The only genuine gun in the top 10 from that year was Cooney. Look who came next:
2 - Walker
3 - Sylvia
4 - Ray
5 - McLean
6 - Bradley
7 - Tenace
8 - R.Clarke
9 - Trotter
10 - Dunn

Admittedly Mundy, Fisher and Stanton were also in that draft but all in all it was a pretty weak draft.

True, but that is the same as every other trade possibility that has been raised on our board so far. Sherman, Tambling, Rosa, McKinley, Nahas. No one of them would ever make a premiership 22. Well, a Williamstown one maybe, but not an AFL one. The standard is dropping daily.

I am not a huge Walker fan(mainly because he is too injury prone) but he is the only player mentioned that I think would make our 22. And he is a champion compared to some of the other players mentioned. He is 24, has had injuries, off field issues and hasn't been consistent. On the other side, he has talent and can play that outside mid role that we need. If we are looking at 2012-13 as our year of intent, then he will be 26-27 so that is still at on okay age.

So, some plus for him but also some risk factor. Personally I would keep our draft choices, or if we have to lose Hill and Everitt, would try and get as high a draft pick as we can. But if we have to trade a player for player, Walker is probably the best of the bad bunch IMO.

Did Mundy go to freo for the pick we used trading for .. forget his name, aboriginal flanker.

If we hadnt of traded that year, we might have picked up Cooney, Bradley and Mundy. Weird.

Of that lot, Nahas fits the role of genuinely quick crumbing forward. So why not, and he will come cheap? He is 22yo off the rookie list, so could have a fair bit of improvement in him. Stats not much to look at except he lays over 5 tackles a game.

We really lack that player that causes fan excitement and opposition defenders to shit themselves when the ball hits the ground in the forward line.
