I've sorted our players into different categories re. Trading and Delisting.

Untouchables (need to build a Premiership around):
David Neitz
Clint Bizzell
Adem Yze
Travis Johnstone
Darren Jolly
Brad Miller
Chris Heffernan
Cameron Bruce

Untouchables (too much potential):
Steven Armstrong
Daniel Bell
Ryan Ferguson
Nathan Carroll
Cameron Hunter
Jared Rivers
Nick Smith
Scott Thompson
Aaron Rogers

Expendables:
Nathan Brown
Simon Godfrey
Brad Green
Chris Lamb
James McDonald
Luke Molan
Peter Walsh
Daniel Ward
Matthew Whelan
Jeff White

No trade value / Delist
Luke Williams
Paul Wheatley
Peter Vardy
Alistair Nicholson
Gary Moorcroft
Craig Ellis
Troy Broadbridge
Daniel Breese

Rookies:
Nathan Carroll: Elevate.
Adam Fisher: Keep.
Dale Carson: Keep.
Ezra Poyas: Don't keep.
Michael Clark: Don't keep.
Nick Walsh: Don't keep.

Discuss!

Obviously I don't want to trade all of the players in the 'Expendable' list, but if the right deal came along, I'd take it.

Do you really consider Brad Green expendable? I'd have him at Essendon in a second.

But then, you'd know better than me.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to get rid of him but I would trade him if a good deal came along.

Green and pick 21 for Danny Jacobs?

I'd take Jacobs in a second, I reckon he's a fantastic player.

Offload Green to Geelong for Bartel and Nathan Brown for a packet of twisties! ;)

That deal would be worth considerable thought, Jacobs can play either a key defensive role or a rebounding flanker, but struggles against the man-beast full forwards like Neitz, Treadrea and Hall. I think i'd just like to see Green on a HFF for us, how is his disposal?

Hi Lamby29 i follow the roos, but was very interested in some of youre ideas. I have alot of time for youre side and think they will be somewhere in the 8 next year (you should know how youre team fluctuates better than me)
Just a few questions is Paul Wheatley no good ? I saw him play some good games last year? I thought he looked ok.
Are you basing this decision on this year because i feel once Melbourne were out of the finals they sort of lost the intensity.
Anyway i would be interested to know on him. Also White, Green,
Nicholson, Molan, Brown, Ward, Walsh & Ellis i think are all players other teams would trade on. In my opinion on what i have seen i would wait another year and if their is no improvement on these players then trade. Keep the faith the dees will be back next year like always.

I'll give you some thoughts on the players mentioned.

Wheatley - has all the potential in the world, but went backwards this year. Was injured for the last half of the season and barely played a senior game. Will be trade bait I feel.

White - Awesome when on, **** when not. Again, will be trade bait but will command alot on the trade table.

Green - Proven goalkicker who can push into the midfield, but is terribly soft and goes missing often. Green for Teague and a 3rd rounder?

Nicholson - Untouchable, as while he only played a handful of games, he led the team in defensive spoils for the entire year. Won't be traded.

Molan - Everyone says he is a dud for how high we picked him, but has been injured for about 80% of his 2 years with the club. Will stay on the list until he recovers, the club has faith.

Brown - Won't be traded, but I wish he was. Turns the ball over more than he uses it, but can provide good drive from half back. Give me some twisties and a tim tam and he's yours!

Ward - Plenty of run and a fantastic kick over long distances, I don't think he will be up for trade. Love Wardy!

Walsh - Interesting one. Halfway through the year he was gone, but his last half of the year was great so he may well tretain his spot.

Ellis - Practically gone, won't command anything on the trade table.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Cowboyfromhell but funnily enough i think you still have a very good list and i wouldnt go overboard with trades, however i dont watch you play every week so i dont see the deficencies in these players games.

I would be disappointed to lose Teague i believe he is very good, and very courageous. Fell out of favour not long after making a comment about how Denis Pagan used to drag the youngsters after they made mistakes , i believe alot of the older players at North took offence to this as they still have close links with Pagan.
Funnily enough he hardly played another game for the year after the comment , makes you wonder what influence the senior players must have at footy clubs(however this is only a theory)
I think we are possibly holding onto him to replace Archer when he retires. But i would take Wheatley for him, from what i have seen he is good, i have only seen him in 2002 though.

Do you think trading Robertson would be the right move? He is far from our best player, and I could live with him playing for another side, but he is close to the most popular player at the club. Think of how many members we would lose if we traded him.

I'm not going to enter another Heffernan debate.

He only does the Heffernan crap now to get a rise out of us. It worked for a while, but I'm just choosing to ignore it now.

You have to make hard decisions if you want to get anywhere and his trade value will never be higher. As long as we trade him for the right player there shouldnt be a problem. We might lose 100 members and upset more, but once we start winning games they'll start coming back. If we're keeping players because of their off-field popularity there's something wrong.

I will take Green for Teague

Good mark and strong hands

Put a bit of hardness into him and will be a player

Go Roos

No chance of a straight swap Green for Teague, especially since Teague is one being talked about as a possible delisting.

Moorcroft hasn't been given a go IMO.

has dominated VFL level. Kicking bags of goals.
At AFL level has averaged 10 disposals in his 3 games and has played half the games on the bench.

Also missed 6 weeks with a knee injury, give him a go.

I agree he'd be stiff he's done little wrong all year & had almost no luck. However there's probably not room for him & Vardy on the list & my vote goes to Vards, provided he gets himself right.

We're not really in a position to be patient!

Yeah Moorcroft was unlucky but he would be taking up a tiny bit of the salary cap and for a player we are unlikely to use consistantly, we need that room on the list.
