Wow, try to be more obsessed why don't you tiger .

Well no tiger, because they aren't contradictory tiger. Besides that its more funny than anything, reading about your obsession to the point you go back to old threads from months ago to find little tidbits that are irrelevant to the current thread and don't even support anything you say, tiger.

Lets look at the quote of mine you just posted tiger:

Now Tiger,I am comparing Douglas to one other player, Mackay. This is in reference to the present time, and short term future tiger. Now any person with a normal human level of intelligence would be able to discern that this is in no way related to the opinion i expressed in this thread and is in no way related to my opinion of the future development of Douglas which is what was discussed in this thread. It also is not related at all to anything said about Douglas being an AFL player, future or present or whether he has no weapons.

Now this is in reference to Douglas missing snap shots at goal, this may be because he is not a small forward by nature, now see that bit where I said "not yet anyway" that means that I think he will be better in the future, which is in no way contradictory to anything I said in this thread despite what you seem to think. Thats ignoring the fact that Douglas was one of our top goal scorers in 2008. Tiger.

Just a tip, you're clutching at straws.

Also another tip tiger, when you call a player duddlas it tends to hurt your credibility, and I'm sure you care about credibility on an internet forum because you go to such lengths searching many month old posts.

Ah the refuge of the unintelligent, calling someone a child, it goes hand in hand with your use of condsending pet names like tiger, tiger.

Tiger tiger.

In future when you become obsessed and go searching for posts in previous threads to discredit someone in an ultra important internet discussion it might be prudent to find posts that actually back up what you are saying. Instead of posts that just barely support your argument, that is if you look at them in a deliberate biased way. Like you have. Unfortunately anyone else reading them will understand them to be perfectly reasonable, which they are.

Finally lets go back to my original post.

Just as I thought, absolutely no contradiction at all with anything I have said in this thread. Seems you're just assuming things, or hearing voices in your head, or both. Tiger. Almost forgot to add the tiger, otherwise you wouldn't understand anything I said, right. Tiger.

Tiger

Tiger.

Wow you really are one on lifes precious little flowers arent you petal? You really are mastering the fine art of immitating a muppet. Or maybe its not an act?

Anyways tiger, you dont need to get so defensive when you are called out on flip flopping your opinions every time the wind changes. It really only took 2 minutes of my time pointing it out to you chief but maybe even that was a waste of my time champ.

Back to the originial point cobber, Douglas is in my opinion going to struggle holding off petrenko, dangerfield, otten and McKay. Oh and thanks for backing me up with respect to Mckay big fella.

Just try to take it easy on yourself tiger, its ok to look silly.

Face it mate, you were well and truly trounced in your argument with VVM, accept your defeat with grace. Oh, and it's Mackay, not McKay.

One more thing, you say he is mastering the art of imitating a muppet...well he was imitating you.....soooo, yeah..... tiger.

that was a magic moment!!

he has a touch of class about him just seems to go missing ....when he gets it right he'll be awesome for us!

it's called inexperience, Richie just needs more games and more game time and the consistency will come

Whether you are a Douglas fan or not his best game is still his debut against Melbourne...

IMHO, thats just plain wrong. IMHO, his best game by far was the first showdown this year. He kicked some clutch goals when we seriously needed a goal, including the one where he made an ass out of Shaun Burgoyne!

Douglas' biggest problem is not whether he has the talent to play at this level. Its whether or not he can become a lot more consistent player. He drifts in and out of games and quarters a bit too much, he is a great tackler but doesn't have the body strength for those tackles to stick. If he can improve his fitness and strength, I think he will go to another level at a rapid rate.

Has to be some questions about his size for a long term midfield role.

Do the names Daniel Kerr, Ben Cousins, Peter Bell et al ring any bells?!

The size is not a factor here. Its fitness and strength. He is a nuggety frame which indicates that he can stack on some muscle and become stronger. His fitness is the main reason why he is not seeing any midfield time. He works hard, he sometimes works himself into the ground across HF but if he can improve his engine, he will make it.

IMO Criticism of Douglas drifting in and out of games is a little harsh

1. Playing a crumbing forward role is an opportunist role, drigting in and out of games is part and parcel with the role

2. Douglas has played less than 40 games inconsistency comes with that inexperience territory, J Selwood & Judd are the only players that I can remember that had a high level of consistency in their forst 50 games

My first post so please be gentle. Firstly congrats to all those who get out to training and post those reports, they are really of great interest.
It was the Douglas debate which prompted me to make the effort to register. i was fortunate last year to be at the Swans game in Sydney, sitting near the behind post left of screen. My friends and I had a birds eye view of Douglas, he did a massive amount of body work that does not gain a stat as well as generally harassing defenders.

We felt Porps could have thanked him for at least 3 of his goals that night. No stats but would be certain the coaches see it. We all had new found respect for him after that.

I think we are all very demanding on players to achieve instant success when in reality few are overnight sensations.

As far as success next year, there is no doubt it must come from further improvement in those who broke through last season ie VB, Vince, Douglas, McKay, Maric, Griffin, Knights, Tippett.

Good post, i don't often post i just like reading debates and whatnot, but in regards to Douglas; Hes played under 50 games is it? Is being played out of his natural position (midfield, where he was seen as one of the most natural footballers in his draft, if i remember correctly) For a oppurtunistic forward i would say with his tackling pressure and 20-30 odd goals hes kicked this year hes done very well, considering hes still young and there is much scope for improvement.

With a greater fitness base we can expect Dougie to play midfield with stints up forward where he is still probably our best small crumber option. The best from Richard is still to come be patient hes still developing and is an integral part of our forward line.

How reilly training? Is he going fit and strong? You would think he would have to be on the edge of the team if he doesnt put in a strong preseason.

I would say ANY player would be on the edge of the team if they dont put in

Reilly's problems have never been related to "putting in" and especially his preseasons, he seems to always come back in as good as or better shape than the year before and has in the past 2 or 3 preseasons played some exquisite footy, so I wouldn't expect this preseason to be much different. He just seems to cop an unlucky impact injury early in the season, that sidelines him for 8 or so weeks and just ruins the rest of his season.

They are exceptional talents, (excluding bell) not sure dougie fits into that category. I was referring to both his height and build, i dont agree that hes shown an ability to stack on teh muscle. I still think he will make it though, just wont be a full time mid.
