Carey didn't train but is said to be a certainty

Massie started but didn't finish and is extremely doubtful

Goodwin trained but unlikely to be allowed to play by medical staff

Welsh trained no worries.

According to Ben Hart, Carey has trained indoors today and got through the training very well.

Carey and Welsh should come in but I reckon Goody might play in SANFL.

Give Massie an extra week.

So who should be dropped this week? Begley and who else?

I like Stiffy's idea of keeping Hentschel on as a defender for this week, but this depends on match ups and conditions. Rutten would be be pretty stiff to miss this week, I'd rather keep Rutts in attack than defence.

I can't see the point of dropping Begley, he was one of our best in the second half. And with Massie to miss again it seems stupid to drop him.

Carey and Welsh for Hentschel and Bassett for mine.

Purely for the criminal hair!

LOL!

Speaking of things that could involve the law...Mr lawrence. would anyone like to guess what impact this will have on this weeks Saints side?

Will they come out focussed and breathing fire or collapse into a rabble? Thus far thomas hasnt said anything stupid to give us a clear indictation, but hey its only Wednesday.

gehrig's gone for 1 week too! that's a huge plus!
Great news! He killed Carey in round two and kicked 9 goals last week (which must be the highest individual tally for the year?)

So that's one headache we don't have to worry about either up forward or in defence.

Begley couldn't be dropped on his showing against Freo.

Hart will have to return to the backline to take Bassett's place which leaves a wing spot for Begley.

Hentschel is a genuine chance to hold his spot because he is a tall mobile option both up front and down back.

Bode could and probably should be omitted in light of his form and horror haircut!!.

IMO Skipworth could be a real chance to replace Bode as he plays a similar type of game and his SANFL form has been outstanding. Would have to be the best on-baller going around in the SANFL.
Gags and Doughty are both contenders for Bode's spot as well but are more outside players, while Skippy is an in and under type.

Ins: Carey, Welsh (and maybe Skipworth)

Out: Bassett, Rutten (and maybe Bode)

Surely you mean Hentschel, not Rutten!

Nope, I mean Rutten. It's just a matter of team balance. If Carey and Welsh are both back, Rutten isn't needed. Besides, although he started well, Rutten barely touched leather after the first couple of minutes of the second quarter. In fact if you watch the replay closely, his lack of leg speed was a key factor why the ball was cleared so easily from our attacking area.

Hentschel is more mobile and has more leg speed than Rutten, and just may be required to play a part down back, as the Saints have 3 talls in Reiwoldt, Kokitschke and Hamill who will need watching, and we are down a tall in Bassett.

Any one of those 3 would carve Rutten up with his lack of leg speed.

There's something so wrong about dropping a guy who has just kicked three goals on debut.

Particularly when you're keeping a guy who's done less in his three games combined.
