Where would he go? Real is out of the question, Barcelona have Ter Stegen, City have Ederson, Liverpool have Alisson, Juve and Bayern won't pay that much for a goalie...
Plus Szczesny had a good year.

Another f*** up
Hes a wing back and we don't play with that system. He played as a full back at Hull and was pretty average.

We have Azpi, James and Zappacosta in front of him as RBs, its a good move for him and a decent return for us.

What system are you alluding to? Our manager has one foot out the door so we don’t really have a system right now.

Azpi, James and Zappacosta are RBs. Aina played RB at Hull but excelled on the left side at Torino (sometimes as a LB), so he would be competing with Alonso and Emerson. Has all the tools to become a very good LB/LWB.

It’s sad losing an academy product who blanketed Ronaldo and excelled abroad for peanuts. Would’ve been a handy addition to our squad considering our circumstances. €10m will barely get you a full back’s pubic hairs these days.

Just another case of our club not backing in our youth and our youth proving our club wrong again.

Buy back?
It was a loan with an option to buy and they triggered it. Got themselves a bargain.

The funny part about the whole thing is when we decided to ditch Aina, we took Zappacosta off Torino’s hands for €28m and he uselessly sits on our bench 99% of the time, yet they end up with our youth product who is younger and more promising, for a third of the price we paid for Zappacosta in a much more inflated market.

Its looking pretty much like Franks 433 system is going to be it. As much we dont want it its happening and he doesn't use wingbacks which is what Aina is(and Alonso so i guess he'll struggle too)

Agree Aina is able to do both sides, but to me hes stronger on the right where we have him covered with imo better footballers. On the left we have Emerson and Alonso, so thats fine too.

Hope he does well at Torino but i dont see it biting us on the arse.

De Ligt apparently joining PSG.
Stench of Raiola all over that. No idea why young players go with that campaigner as their agent. He must be incredibly influential (or manipulative) with the players themselves if he's able to get him to give up on what he's said is his dream move to Barca.

in fairness, he'd hardly get pennies on the dollar if the barca move went through.

What makes you think he’s better on the right? I didn’t watch Torino or Hull and only go by reports but from what I’ve read, his best football has been at Torino where he has played on the left. Apparently he switched between LWB and LB and was very capable in both positions, unlike Alonso, who as you mentioned is only decent as a LWB.

I’m not overly fussed by it. He just seemed like he would be a handy recall had we not lost patience with him and put an option to buy in his contract.
SM How did you find Aina playing as a full back?
He said he was no good at Hull which is the consensus. I believe he was predominantly played as a RB there.

Just by the odd game i watched him play, this season and the previous ones and from a couple of Chels youf itk i follow. Im not claiming to be an expert on it though so i could be wrong haha. Im pretty happy with the group of FBs, CBs and CMs that weve got, attacking players thats a different story.

Now if we sold James then I'd be raging.

In fairness we were also incredibly shit while he was with us so might not have all been him.

Yeah fair enough. I guess I’m just triggered because apart from the obvious players we’ve wrongly sold there have been guys like Ake, T. Hazard, Traore, etc. who have gone on to flourish elsewhere whilst we’ve retained junk or been fleeced for it. I feel Aina will be another player that succeeds elsewhere and we’ll end up spending £40m on some poop LB when our ban finishes. It’s what we do.

The lack of faith our club has in our academy players despite their repeated success is bewildering. That’s why I’m all for Frank coming in. I’m sick of all these foreign managers who only care about the short term and aim for instant success while completely ignoring our kids.

Sorry, but this is a pretty daft comment. Chelsea’s short term policy has nothing to do with your managers being foreign. It’s entirely driven by Roman and the board.

I dunno, i think we are slowly moving towards using the kids more. Christensen and RLC are nailed on numbers of the team/squad and CHO looks like joining them. James and Mount will be next, maybe Tammy so it is slowly happening.

I think expectations will be lowered a bit too as we try to be self sustainable rather than Romans toy. Sarri survived a down period no other previous manager probably would have, so maybe we've changed.

Frank will need all the help he can get but I'll be relaxed if Jody Morris is his right hand man.
