was the moutinho to everton deal ever serious? I mean did it ever serious legs that it might actually happen?
I mean this to be only slightly offensive to the Toffees, but it always seemed a stretch for the 21 year old captain of Sporting Lisbon, who's one of the best midfield prospects in Europe, to pack his bags and move to Goodison Park.

He stated he wanted to join everton and we had a 15million euro bid rejected. He also agreed to terms with us.

Just because Liverpool don't have the pulling power it once had... all you can get now is Robbie Keane overpriced and Gareth Barry overpriced... i lol.

Did he really? I didn't hear that so i'll take your word for it. Obviously he wants to follow the Graveson Path to Success and become a Real Madrid and Celtic flop. Or maybe he dreams of following Andy "Superstriker" Johnson to Fulham??

We'll take Keane... You guys can have another Championship plodder that will "dominate" the Premiership. I lol every season.

Everton always do this.

Bid laughably under the selling clubs valuation and then moan about it afterwards when you don't get the player.

Managers decisions. Nothing to do with pulling power.

They don't pay off, he's gone. Big expensive gambles.

In Barry's case. It's beyond a gamble. Not needed at all. Worst signing that will be made all season. Donkey.

Sure buddy ;)

And yes, I am aware.. and the Fans see straight through it.

Well, considering I was born in 1990, can't say 90s television would be my strong point.

I was born in 1984, I've heard of the Brady Bunch and Happy Days!

We're interested in Annan too by all accounts.

Boro were linked to Annan fairly heavily a couple of months ago too. Back then his agent said that Blackburn, Bolton and Middlesbrough were all interested (not that, that means anything)

Everton have not done a thing wrong. If they rate Moutinho they will get the player. Reports are Everton have increased their offer. I would hate to see you in the transfer market, just pay what ever the other club says.;)

It is about negotiation and trying to get the best deal. This is how transfers work. In the Moutinho case you will not see any Everton supporters complaining if we miss out and another club pays what Sporting want. In this case Everton obviously do not agree with the Sporting valuation.

It works both ways I suppose. Everton copped a lot of flack spending £11.25m on Yakubu and £8.6 the previous season on Andy Johnson.

I wouldn't be offering 11.8m for the captain of a big club, a club with generally prohibitive valuations like Sporting. When Sporting/Porto want a certain fee, they do generally get it.

They won't be selling their captain, widely regarded as a top talent in world football, already a Portugese international, for around 6m less than their valuation.

History should tell you this.

Married with Children didn't get repeated ad nauseum in prime time like those 2 did though.

When did I ever suggest that the potential fee was only 11m?

Up front, yeah possibly about that. But it was always going to be more than that over the course of the contract/clauses on his success.

You’re good at making things up Embers. Try writing novels or something.

“Why Dean Ashton is worth 25m pounds”

A nice fictional one to start with. Plenty of laughs to be had with this one Embers. Comedy gold. Sign me up.

I’ve got “Puffin” (are they still in business?) on the phone, dude.

Haha calm down man, im just stirring :D

Married with Children = awesome. Anyone who bad mouths it is a poor human being.

Apparantly we are gonna sign Matteo Ferrari on a free. Was ordinary for Everton but had a good spell with Roma. Price is right anyway

hang on, this isn't one of car/smith's 'i'm inside his sauces' is it?

Keano's £8.5m Saha swoop
Roy Keane is on the brink of completing an £8.5million swoop for Manchester United striker Louis Saha. Sunderland boss Keano will make the out-of-favour Old Trafford star the biggest earner in the club’s history on £50,000 a week. Saha, 30, was at the Stadium of Light to see the Black Cats’ 1-0 pre-season defeat by Ajax. Keane is desperate to add firepower to his squad after last season’s brush with relegation. He has splashed £20m on six summer signings already but admitted: “Hopefully there will be two or three players coming on board before the transfer window closes. At the end of last season I thought we needed another top striker at the club and I’ve not changed that view because you’ve got to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Please, please, please!!

Wow what insight! Surely this man will get manager of the year with that kind of "outside the square" thinking.

Spurs do it too and it works well. However I can't see 2 things happening with this "deal"

1. Everton having the cash to spend on him - Sporting think he will be World Class and will want at least what we paid for Modric.

2. The player wanting to go to Everton. He has very high ambitions and would want his next step to be CL IMO.

Hopefully we can convince Veloso to come from the same club but I think indicator number 2. may hold us back with that signing.

:D :D good one FC ;)

Bill Kenwright (Everton's Chairman) was on Sky Sports News last night and said that Moutinho is definitely a target, big signings will happen in the next 24 hours and we have guys targeted who aren't in the papers who are quality players (apparently).. so who knows. I think one of the players who hasn't been mentioned is Javi Martinez.

Apparantly we have tried to take him with a 3 million pound bid. See the difference. Saha would rather join us but we wont match Sunderlands offer in any shape or form it seems. Id like Saha as a bench option. For 3 mill if we could get 15 games out of him a year id be happy enough .

Spurs do what? Negotiate with clubs?

Is that why you paid 19m for Bentley?

19m. Whoa where did they get the extra cash? Paid 12m for him.

You must be the only person on here that thinks that we don't negotiate with clubs. Aren't we infamous for making ridiculously low offers or is it just whichever side suits the argument so that you can get a shot in at Spurs.
