The report I read is that they contacted the indonesian authorities that the earthquake was likely to result in a tidal wave. They didn't know how big it was going to be. Where that information went from there, and who the 'authorities' actually were weren't reported.

But let's not get political here, there's another board for that.

It would not have saved that many lives because the roads will be packed with cars and they would have washed away, so it will not have saved many lives.

Just because there is an earthquake, even a big one, doesn't mean there is going to be tsunami. Just look at the earthquake nearish to tassie just the week before.

That was only because the earth shift upwards in asia to send the water across the countries.

Ok...playing devils advocate for a second... and I am not trying to lessen what he did but..... wouldnt any guy do that for a girl that he was in love with? I know I wouldnt want to live knowing I watched my wife/girlfriend die... I'd rather die trying to save her than live the rest of my life without her. I don't think what Broadbridge did was any different than what 99.9% of us would do in the same situation with someone we loved.

But whenever there are bravery awards, whether it's a fireman who pulled someone from a burning house or a Mum/Dad who saved a kid from a pool/lake/beach they all say the same thing... "I was just doing my job" , "Any parent/adult would do the same", "It's no big deal".

But the fact is that everyone has a choice in those situations. You either ensure that you stay safe, or put yourself at some risk to help others. Sometimes, through training, equipment, knowledge, strength or luck you can minimise your risk, but the fireman can' be sure the burning building won't collapse, the river rescuer can't be sure that the current won't get stronger/rope will break etc.
It appears from the reports that Troy chose to help someone else at his own peril, and may have paid the ultimate price. That is courage, and that is being a hero. Given the scale of the disaster, maybe he only had a very small chance of survivial in any event, but he put his wife's safety before his own and should be commended for that.

I dont mean this to sound harsh (I also hope he does turn up), But is it possible for the MFC to "draft" another player as a replacement if he is infact departed us all?
I know the rookie rules but I am asking about an uncontracted player or another rookie to replace the elevated one?

It is so hard to believe that the death toll is nearing 130,000. Disease could kill more than double. That is just a very sad figure. that is more then the one they had in China more than 50 years ago. that killed 250,000 people.

Yeah, an earthquake in China killed 250,000 in about 1975, they also had one arond 1930 which killed more than 4 million people.
