Like Brad Crouch?

The guy is beyond redemption it seems, this continues to give the club very bad exposure and he's become a drain on resources to manage him.

Delist at the earliest opportunity for mine!
No like Tex Walker like....

So you want him around a club full of young players? A rotten apple that is too dangerous to have at the club.

Reckon Richmond knew something when he was traded so easily.
There's a chance Richmond knew something, well at least understood his character.

Stengle claimed last time that he learnt from his mistakes, but clearly he hasn't... so 3 strikes & give his spot to someone who takes this seriously... because DUI, driving an unlicensed car, drug possession & now drug use... all within a year, means he has no self control.

Another wasted talent.

Don’t really have an issue with players taking drugs. It’s so broadly prevalent in society (especially in their demographic) that you just have to accept it happens. If a player gets caught, you hope it’s a strong lesson to stay away from it or be a bit smarter.

I do have a problem with getting caught multiple times. It just shows you’re an idiot who can’t or won’t learn from your mistake. Delist.
So you don't have a problem with him taking drugs, but have a problem with him getting caught? He's an idiot who didn't learn from his mistake...the mistake of getting caught?

OK so he hasn’t been “caught” at all. It didn’t come from the police, so all we know it was taken privately by someone nearby (absolute scum but that’s a different story).

for all we know this is a blackmail scheme gone wrong.

it’s unsolicited mail. We have to know when it was taken, after all what’s the problem if it were before his last misdemeanour?

if it’s new, he’s in trouble. No doubt

but the chain of custody for this evidence is shady.

if we can’t verify when, we have to let it go

Yeah. Mental health is another one of those bullshit made up stories like the moon landing, or that the earth is round, or Corona virus. Pfttt. :D

It’s a cop out used by idiots you “f&@k up”.. Does a disservice to people with real mental health issues..

Yes, because AFC would stand Stengle down effective immediately if they didn't think it was a good source... Not!

Direct quote from the article..

“7news understands the club was provided with an image of Stengle next to a plate of an unidentified illicit substance.”

Wow... so they actually havent got footage of him taking the substance?.. or have they?..

He’s just sitting next to something..

Faark me.. Says nothing about him ingesting it in anyway.. And no photo of the substance or how close it was to him.. just this photo..

Yep... thats some damning evidence right there.. lets destroy him and his career.

Quote from The Age....

A source familiar with Stengle's situation said the club received images, not from the police, allegedly showing the player next to what appeared to be an illicit substance.

It's just a pity they didn't feel the same about Dusty.

If the photos were taken after the Brad Crouch incident then absolutely have to delist him. Even if they weren't I wouldn't care if we made an example out of him. Need to be really clear to this very young playing list what is acceptable.

I wonder if we sack him would that open up a spot on our list for the mid-season draft. Would love to see how Maher/Kolar track (or any other kid that missed out) and take the pick of the litter.

To be honest I think Richmond knew he wasn't good enough to make their team. No doubt off field issues played a part as well.

I'd say so. I mean he came to us so unfit he could barely run the TT... and thats not something youd expect coming from Richmond.

He needs help, and I hope we get it for him, but I doubt he'll take it.

If this was his first offence...... but it isn't. That's the problem here.
Exactly!

His previous 2 offences he said he would learn from his mistakes... yet clearly he has no self control.

This in itself is the reason why AFC would want him gone as he won't make it.

He's every bit as talented as the guys in their forwardline..... just doesnt work anywhere near hard enough

It's not private if you have been specifically told by your employer and governing body not to do it, but do it anyway.
Just because others his age do it it's OK - really? Great advice

Private in the sense that I do not need to know about it. That's the only reason I'm comfortable moving on from Stengle if we go down the route. Unfortunately, you need to cut the "too stupid" loose.

The rest is being pragmatic, and not living in a fantasy world of if you say "drugs are bad" enough times that this problem will disappear. Because that's just letting your brain fall out of your head with idealism. Odds are every football club has a number of people doing drugs on the weekend, the game is just keeping it hush-hush whilst our society is still being immature about drug use and not treating it in a similar vein to alcohol dependence/gambling (which is thankfully beginning to change in recent times with legalisation of weed, and hopefully, in the long run, we'll have a similar model to dealing with as Portugal as we're long past the point where criminalisation can be an effective method to deal with this problem, but of course, that's a debate for another time). The club does need to be aware enough to be able to quietly step in if it's starting to spiral out of control, as well as a place players trust will have their best interests at heart that they're willing to open up about it if they need to (especially if their own support network isn't capable of dealing with these issues, as not everyone has that luxury, nor is there a guarantee an AFL player will connect with those who are capable).

After all, different forms of addiction are going to be a problem we are going to be continuously plagued with for the rest of our existence as a football club. Kids, an awkward high-pressure job with a lot of downtime (noting most of the pressure would stem from performing on a football field and the loss of anonymity), and all that jazz. A part of our job description of winning premierships is being a place that if a youngster falls off the wagon due to the myriad of options he has at his disposal, we're able to place him back on unless they are too far gone.

I think we and the police have already provided help...

Baldwin would only be considered as mid season pick. Maybe someone like Mather from Victoria?
The SA class has been well & truly picked over. All clubs, including the AFC, will be looking at the Victorian kids who missed out on being drafted this year.

“Too Dangerous”.... wow.

You must live a very sheltered life.. it would be a pretty safe bet if you put your money on the fact a hell of a lot of AFL players have ingested illegal substances at one point or another over the course of their careers.

The only dangerous thing he’s done so far is drink drive.. and thats the act of an absolite moron.. if there was one thing my mate and I growing up wouldnt cop.. that was one of the lads drink driving.

Take as many drugs and drink to your hearts content.. but if you even looked at your car keys the wrong way while you were partying you’d be guaranteed to be bitchslapped back into place.
