Drew has been the mainstay of the fwd line but isn't getting any younger and let's say age dictates his output this time next year has slid from present levels and retirement looks imminent. The game style has changed and slower ball movement makes life more difficult for key forwards, and so their output is down, BUT you wouldn't hear buddy, roughie, tippet, or Hawkins use that as an excuse. Our developing key forwards are injury plagued and lets face it just aren't coming on at the rate we'd like. Black and wood surely the most promising, but they are hardly your big strong unstoppable monster forward. Tarrant and Daw have the physique but neither have developed at the rate required and injury and off field issues could further be a hindrance there. Who knows with Curran, a late 2015 debut is probably optimistic at best. Currie is a backup ruck man that's all. That leaves us with Brown. Has shown good athleticism and promise for a guy his size and still young, hopefully a full year in the system to build up strength and endurance sees him have a breakout year in 2015. Clubs always use the excuse that key position players take time to develop, but seems we have been trying to develop drews heir apparent for years but are no closer to resolving the issue. Question......come trade period this year, is it time for north to get bold in trying to package players and draft picks to try and get a Boyd or Patton for example? Who would you part with? Or do people have faith in the development trajectory of our stock of key forwards?
