As much as I like Henry and think he will be a good enough signing, no more stop gap shit. Get some quality in, show that you're ****ing business. Sick of just scraping by to make top 4. It's out of us and Chelsea with Liverpool making a bit of a surge. At the moment I don't think we will finish 4th. We need some ****ing quality in.

Gervinho has been pretty poor lately, he's amazingly wasteful. Walcott has been very poor as well. I've said this before - we need another goalscorer like crazy. Walcott has 2 this season, Ramsey has 1. Hate to bring it up and I know they aren't like for like players but it's kinda like Nasri/Fab positions they are both playing. Definitely not as good but that is a ridiculously drop in quality.

Fair play as I previously said they aren't like for like, younger etc but you can notice the difference big time. Ramsey will be a great player I think but he'll never be a big goalscorer. Splash the cash (we say this every year but to no avail). Until we do, not sure if we will be title contenders in the next few years. Even though players will improve and come on, the older players will drop as well.

Anyway, rant over and to summarize - we need improvements. Fullback situation definitely not helping either, absolutely poor structure.

The problem is players do not want to move as it may cost them a Euro spot if they dont perform. This is why Podolski has said he will not move.

I find the whole Thierry Henry situation as window dressing to distract the fans from another spendless season. Obviously something is up financially with this club and im not sure the clubs being entirely honest about it. Arsenal should not be a net gain transfer club (sell more then you buy) in any season ever never mind one where you are ferociously competing for your Champions League spot and also TBH in dire need of a statement of intent to keep Robin Van Persie committed to the cause.

The club should be spending 20 mill+ regardless of Henry arrival but somehow I doubt this is going to happen. You geniunely need 4 more bodies in really to create some actual depth. The bench you named last night was cringeworthy. Norwich bench was better.

For me the issues lie with not having great quality in each position in addition to lack of quality depth. Don't get me wrong, we got some decent enough young players but as many suggest, we got a lot of quick buys that probably offered enough depth but not really much added quality. Santos is good offensively but defensively is a bit average. Gibbs is too injury prone and I gotta say he'll never be the player we thought he could have been sadly.

Definitely think we need a quality LB - who to get? Not really sure to be honest as Baines will be too expensive for Wenger. It's hard to get quality backup as if they were that quality they'd be starting. Walcott is too inconsistent for me and doesn't really score enough. I think he scored a decent amount last season but we really need a versatile player like Gotze or Hazard who are young, absolute quality at the highest level and can provide many goals/assists (and who can actually cross).

None of this will happen though. In the need for a Flamini/Diarra type player as well, someone with a high work rate that can run all day.

All these suggestions are pretty obvious and maybe I'm being a tad harsh but what are we - a side that settles to scrape into fourth or are we a side that wants to be contenders?

For what its worth anyway, we won't sign anyone big until next season when there's more pressure put on Wenger. I know it's risky spending big cash on these blokes but if you don't improve the side, other people will probably want to leave. Need to show some intent that we're still a big club. As Coledinho suggested there could be something going on behind the scenes, if not - I think they give Wenger too much freedom to do what he wants, if they money is there and the team needs improvements, why not spend it? Sadly it's one of the ways to keep up with the likes of Chelsea/Manchesters/Spurs.

You are 5th atm and Chelsea will probably spend 20-50 mill. You are behind the 8 ball. If the board is happy with CL qualification they better get spending to make it happen

Who knows what the board will do. Many fans have been unhappy for about 6 months now with the way the finances are controlled.

I mean, I love the club, but there is only so much you can take.

If we bring anybody in, and that's a very big if, it won't be a big name.

I think that's about spot on. I think the two positions we are crying out for are a top class central midfielder and a top class forward, who ideally can play with and instead of Van Persie.

Wilshere could turn into that midfield guy but it is too much of a gamble to expect him to be anywhere near his best this season and so not buy anyone in January. I suspect that's what will happen though (and there is probably no top class central mids available either). Be brilliant if we could buy and then have a rotation of Song, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey + signing.

Would love Podolski as everyone would but I'm not getting my hopes up on that one either.

Gervinho is frustrating. No idea why he tried to volley that corner in the first half when it would have been much easier to head it. What the ****'s that big forehead for mate?! Time to give the Ox or Yossi more of a go.

still cant work out what szcenzny was thinking with the winner. not saying he could've saved the goal, but he really didnt appear to even try and dive.

agreed on our best XI above. but with all due credit to ramsey, im just not sure he's the answer in that crucial central midfield position. yes he's young and suffered that horrible injury 2 years ago and has plenty of time up his sleeve. but one of our major problems is not enough goals from midfield (too reliant on RvP).

the wasted chances really have reached ridiculous proportions. and whilst gervinho has been one of the main culprits all season, now walcott is really giving him a run for his money. you need more from your wide players, that's where we really need someone of the ilk of a podolski, hazard, gotze etc

will it happen though? that's another story. we've got about 40m pounds remaining apparantly from the sales of nasri, cesc and clichy in the summer....are we going to do anything with it?

^^4th place is considered an achievement, you are right. but its better than 5th or lower.

but 40mill isnt going to make us leapfrog chelsea and man city. you make it sound like if we spend it than gotze and hazard will come. these class of players will end up at Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea or Man City with latter two being for obvious reasons. unless arsenal started paying the wages the latter two do, they arent going to come. and clubs that hold onto these players wait until the richer clubs come along.

soccer is about money and who has most money wins. thats how it is. we are no longer even close. good old days where companies/countries/people are living off high debt are over. dont get me wrong, id love all these players at arsenal and it is frustrating, but at same time i can understand arsenals position and how it came about. people that cant are exactly the type of people who led us to the crisis we are experienceing now in the world.

and that's the real indictment. some of the wages we're paying the deadwood at arsenal to sit on the pine (or in the case of diaby, in the stands watching the fit players play) is ridiculous and holds us back from actually paying for quality players.

our squad is really 3-4 quality footballers short of being able to genuinely have a crack at winning a trophy. but we'll never get those players unless we get rid of half a dozen or so players who are not good enough.

will never happen though under wenger's watch. we'll have to contend with more french league players and bargain 17 year olds

Look, the side has been doing pretty well but the amount of fixtures at this time of year coupled with our extensive injury list and it was inevitable that we would struggle and given the sending off, our blokes were on their knees - they are humans, not machines.

Wenger needs to make some really hard decisions and cut blokes who are injured more often than not and dispense with average players who would be valuable at other clubs.

Don't expect this to happen during the January transfer window because this is the time for desperadoes, clubs and individuals, to squeeze as much out of clubs as possible and making it the absolute wrong time to markedly change ones squad.

I'm going to cop it again but I cannot emphasise enough the importance of a competent and experienced keeper if we are dinkum about winning things.

Our lad should have been commanding and calming when it was needed most but he showed his inexperience and lack of concentration. Call it harsh but these are the types of games that your keeper must be on his mettle.

yes in fairness to your criticism, sczenzy should've done better with fulham's 2 goals i thought, especially the winner. however he certainly wasn't the only one at the back who wilted under the pressure in the final few minutes (happens far too often at arsenal, we've bottled countless games in recent years). sczenzy is young though and still believe he will be an outstanding long term arsenal keeper

yes we've had a lot of bad luck with injuries down back, but the very fact that our bench strength contains the likes of squillaci is a frightening fact.
