I understand the value of getting him to sign a new contract but then you’ve literally undone it all now because people know they will want to move him on. Seems counterintuitive.

this works only if Mikel is harsh on Raya as he seems to be on Rambo. You think Rambo would be given another opportunity if he was first choice after Sunday?
Last year he did, because the back up was Matt Turner. Raya has been given a bit of time to settle in. But Arteta having Ramsdale as his No. 2, means Raya can't afford to drop his form. It's genuine competition. Raya's honeymoon period is done now. Arteta will be ruthless if required.

That’s where I disagree. Raya has made more than a few mistakes but still is given a reprieve. I don’t think Rambo gets the same treatment now Raya is here.

I think mate over time my view on this has evolved. At first I thought it was, however it is evident now Raya has usurped Ramsdale much in the same way Ramsdale did with Leno (almost identically, took the position after 3 matches after the first international break).

Ramsdale’s confidence has also plummeted, even accounting for a calamitous few games from Raya I’m not sure Ramsdale could be trusted to come back into the team and perform at his previous level. Clearly there are behind the scenes issues now that have affected the relationship with him and Arteta.

Vieira has had groin surgery, out for a couple of months seemingly. Would’ve thought there’d be lots of minutes coming up with 10 matches in 36 days, particularly the CL games.

Injuries in midfield creeping up here. ESR has only started jogging again according to Arteta.

I think Jorginho and Havertz come back in for tomorrow morning.

Oh we on something today.

Hopefully MLS and Nwaneri get a chance in this second half.

Tomi is superb.

I read that Bayern were sniffing around. We have to do everything we can to lock him away, he's the perfect utility defender.

Yes was just thinking that. Great opportunity to give them their CL debuts.

Should be getting Jorginho, Nelson etc into the fold as well and give a few players a breather. Rice, Saka, Jesus etc.

Done well here to take whatever sting could be the game in the opening ten minutes. Sounds silly I know when you’re 5 nil up, however the other team always shows something at the start of the second half.

Saliba, Rice and Gabriel are imperious.

That last group match against PSV, hopefully Mikel gives some youngsters an opportunity.
