I guess this is why I find the whole issue a bit skewed from a club perspective. Greenwood was guilty, dead to rights. Couldn't imagine him getting off. Yet, he did.

I feel in today's social climate, the presumption of innocence is more important than ever. If he's found guilty, I hope they castrate him. But until then, I don't feel the club has anything to answer for.

I'd be more interested in why it has taken 3 years for the MET to charge him. I mean, is that normal?

I am not sure. I have read comments mentioning the statute of limitations, but without doing any research I would imagine such serious charges have no statute of limitations.

It seems that there are multiple victims involved and I imagine they have conducted a very thorough investigation, given the profile of the case.

Who knows what kind of evidence they have obtained, how many witnesses were canvassed, if phone work was done, if warrants were obtained/executed, etc. Hopefully it all comes out in the wash.

I know transfers aren’t always done in order of priority. ie, striker first, left winger, midfielder etc etc. It doesn’t work that way. So maybe in the wash up, Madueke is that bonus/added forward signing alongside Sesko, Eze/Rodrygo or similar.

For now though, am struggling to see how £50m+ for him doesn’t impact the ability to acquire Sesko AND Eze. Maybe some gamesmanship/tactics here from Berta in playing this out publicly, not sure.

Glad the club has now moved to finalise the striker. Sesko to me was the clear preference and if he hits those heights wherever he goes in the next few years, there’s going to be that what if feeling similar to Isak. But that would be moot if Gyokeres delivers and Arsenal lift major trophies.

Supposedly Leipzig were holding firm on approx €90m, whilst Gyokeres is approx €65m. That differential goes a long way towards acquiring further players in the squad, akin to Kepa for £5m rather than Garcia for £25m.

The club clearly wanted Sesko, and personally I would have preferred him over Gyokores too.

But unfortunately it seems that Leipzig wouldn't budge on their crazy valuation.

As for Gyokores - he seems damn keen to join us, and you can't not love that. Get the deal done, lock away a striker, and move on to other deals.

Plus as petty as it is I'm sure Yanited fans are upset. I guess the Amorim factor didn't mean much.

£50m for Madueke as a starting point from Arsenal, will likely climb into the mid to high £50m region to get it done. Whilst I know it shouldn’t be assessed in isolation, wait and see what other business Arsenal does across the window, I’m still not entirely feeling this one.

I hope it doesn’t scuttle the potential for an Eze or Rodrygo type of signing. Let’s see.

I don't reckon Rodrygo is happening, if we're chasing Madueke. It makes no sense unless we're selling Martinelli. Eze, Madueke, Saka and Martinelli would be our four wide players, with Eze able to interchange with Odegaard and Nwaneri as well. Behind them, Havertz, Merino, Rice and Jesus. Gyokeres leading the line. That's good attacking depth. Finally.

I am very curious about this 'player swap' with Crystal Palace idea. Hoping it ain't Kiwior.

Yes agreed, I think Rodrygo (if he was to move) is a late window type of opportunity. Whereas Arsenal have an opportunity currently to push for Eze, who I feel is much more likely of the two.

I like the “powered up” nature of listing out our (potential) forward options. Too often we’ve been so light on the bench, even before the cluster injuries of late last season, where we were stacked with left backs and academy players. It cannot happen again if we’re aiming to win 3 times a week in April and May next year, Arsenal need depth and quality.

I’m not familiar with that player swap rumour with Palace, can I ask the context please? They’re wanting a player included plus money, is that right?

Yeah, a couple of articles earlier in the week mentioned the possibility of a player being included in the Eze deal. 'A promising young defender' was the quote without naming anyone. It was tied up with 'Arsenal trying to structure a deal with Palace that didn't require a major sale' so on and so forth...

Surely Kiwior is past promising young player?

What exactly has Madueke done in two seasons at Chelsea to near double the transfer fee they paid for him?

I

Yes I am scratching my head on this one. England international and Chelsea tax I guess. Eze for £67m or Madueke for (up to) £55m-£60m? Again, we may land both, and that would change the context for sure. However for now, with genuine question marks around how Arsenal and Arteta have utilised resources recently, I can’t help but feel it’s going to impact further business. Hope I’m wrong and only time will tell of course.

Interesting, wasn’t aware of that. It can’t be Kiwior then, he’s a fully established international and senior member for Arsenal. Maybe a young defender like Josh Nicholls or someone else, cannot think of anyone else for now. If it’s a straight release clause though then Arsenal should be able to transact directly without a player exchange, however if we’re trying to negotiate a more favourable term structure then that would be different.
