So you'd assume him and Ox out for United.

We have the depth to cover Ox, and if Wenger is smart Elneny will replace Ramsey while Flamini never gets a game again.

We say that every week. But you know Flamini will continue to feature heavily in the coming months.

It's Wenger remember.

Elneny was purchased to be 3rd choice, and 4th choice when Arteta comes back.

Not so sure. Flamini wouldn't be paired with Coq.

Arteta though, who knows.

Well at least we went out there with a plan and stuck to it. Defensively we were solid.

Giroud, Cech, Bellerin, Kos, Monreal, coq and Mert were all outstanding for 75 minutes.

Ramsey defensively was good but still lost the ball way too much going forward.

Ozil and Sanchez drifted in and out of the game but did well defensively.

Don't care about the other players as they aren't worth the effort talking about.

I don't care what anyone says, Barcelona were average. Neymar, Suarez and Messi were hardly sighted and if we did have certain players not contributing at an acceptable level then we could have easily scored one or more.

If we play the same against ManU then we'll get a good result.

I think the team can be reasonably pleased with the general performance today. Defensively, we did as well as we could've. One lapse and one hack challenge by an abomination of a footballer was the difference.

Bringing that standard of performance to our remaining league games will hold us in good stead. Fingers crossed on the injury front.

He clashed with Koscielny with his foot planted, looked like a lateral bend, probably an MCL strain at least

How sure? He did an interview with BT Sport immediately after the game - surely he would've been preoccupied with treatment if he was badly injured?

Yes, our defensive performance and focus was excellent for 70 mins but the lack of quality offensively has been a problem since Christmas.

How many goals have we scored in 2016? Concerning.
Failed to score in 5 of the last 8 matches. Very concerning.

Alexis and Walcott the only players we can reasonably expect to show a bit more in front of goal. Ramsey and Ox are just gash. Go to water too easily in front of goal.

Accurate excerpts from goonersweb:

The good
It wasn't a horror show by the defence and we looked organised.

The bad
It was at the other end where we had a serious problem and that's where the lack of pace and quality really showed.

Annnd the ugly

He's (Wenger) a self-fulfilling ****-up. He only got the tactics right tonight because he's removed any element that would have given him a choice. Of course if you scrape the bargain bucket for players to fill key positions then you will come off worse when you are on a pitch with Suarez, the guy he wanted to pay the release clause plus a quid for. Doesn't that just sum Wenger up so perfectly? +£1, there's probably a rule that states transfer bids must be rounded to the nearest pound otherwise he'd have offered just the extra penny. And the guy he thought was only worth the extra quid has 40+ goals. Where would we be today with those 40 goals - for a player that had already done the business in the PL FFS!? What now for an extra £10mill tagged onto that Suarez bid?

The super irritating thing is even with all Wenger's many, many ****-ups the team showed a bit of discipline tonight and stuck to the task. And with a finisher up top there's nothing to say we couldn't be heading off to Spain next month with a couple of goals advantage. We made some good chances. But there's always a Wenger roadblock or pitfall waiting. Exactly, his genius move tonight was to use the pace of Giroud in our counter-attacking set up. A real master stroke, or maybe just the result of a stroke. So it doesn't really matter how much the players give, Wenger can do things that will nullify their best efforts. Not deliberately of course, but through sheer incompetence. And the the Flamini thing. When do we call the doctor on this guy? If you see your granddad wandering in traffic with a glazed expression you move him into your home or find him somewhere to live where there are people watching out for him. At Arsenal the senile old fool gets to direct the ****ing traffic. It's absurd.

Valid points all round. A day that showed our strengths while further highlighting our weaknesses.

Can't blame Wenger for not signing Suarez.

Suarez had a release clause, Liverpool rolled the dice and ignored it, Suarez and his camp didnt push the matter. Not much Arsene could have done.

Now remember this was the season BEFORE Suarez went ham and scored 500 goals in 38 games or whatever it was. £40mil for a player that had ONE great season is a lot of money. £50mil for a player a play off the back of one great season would have been a monumental risk. It's all good and well to look back with hindsight and say "oh well we should have offered them £50-60-70mil but that's not being fair.

And do these people watch our ****ing team play? Giroud was decent last night but he wasn't there to "use his pace" to counter attack. He's there to hold up the ball and distribute it to the wider players.

We were never going to have enough possession last night to play a proper "counter attacking" game. Who else could we play upfront? Welbeck is only just coming back from injury and Walcott is junk.....

I agree with Flamini though. He should have his contract terminated.

This is a guy who went running to AC Milan after one good season, before they realized he was actually ******* average and didn't bother re-signing him.

Enter Arsene, who signs the mercenary curnt back and spends the next few years relying on him to perform roles he's so far incapable of doing it isn't funny.

******* abominable from the manager. No excuses for this shit.

Wenger is culpable for his continued reliance on Flamini, a cheap short term alternative that is still a regular first XI player 3 years later.

Its indefensible that he failed to strengthen this position last summer, given the number of quality DMs available. However, I think that article is rash in attacking Wenger for failing to sign Suarez.

We met the clause, it seemed the player was willing, but Liverpool didn't move in their position and no one really wanted a messy battle in the courts. Harsh to blame Wenger on that one.

This game continued to show there's nothing wrong with Giroud - the players we actually need to upgrade on are Walcott, Oxlade Chamberlain, and Ramsey.

Not only was Giroud great last night, look at the difference between our attacking subs - Welbeck came on, and was immediately threatening, forging several openings and pushing the Barcelona defence with his physicality and his speed. Walcott came on and disappeared.

Gents, I've just deleted a number of posts relating to streaming links. I don't think I need to remind you the sites policy on it but just in case you missed it:

Mods are under instruction to ban posters that continue to post, allude to, discuss streams. Obviously I have no interest in banning any of you so let's avoid talking about them in here. :)

When you are in the CL next season, you will understand ...

Who would you get to replace Walcott and Ramsey, who are realistic and affordable targets assuming we sold both.
I'm not trying to create an argument and I actually agree somewhat, just trying to think who we could get to replace them.
