Weren't you the clown convinced that we are signing Lewandowski ans Griezmann?

I communicated some of the crazy rumours from that morning. I'll source an extra large winking gif next time for the cheap seats.

There's still hope - the window is still open.

Ha, see, I was left in no doubt as to what was behind your post. I still have plenty to learn.

Wenger does himself absolutely no favors with his cloak and dagger ambiguity transfer poker face. At a time when the fans need some kind of reassurance that something, anything is happening behind the scenes we are met with complete silence. The fear is that NOTHING is being done or that everything is half-assed without any planing. This allows the rags to run rampant with every story under the sun - everything is true until it is proven not true.

He needs to come out and put the cards on the table - this is what we are doing and this is what we will have done.

Someone made a good point on FB on Arseblog's post re: Mustafi.

Basically said how does the player feel in that situation? They have met my demands, but don't want to pay the club for what I might be worth. **** it, I am gonna stay here and be at a club where I am wanted.

Very interesting POV that. Surprised no player has ever backed out of a deal cos of that.

Yeah, except Valencia desperately need to sell to meet FFP so who wants to stay somewhere you're seen as extra debt reduction?

Valencia just got Mario Suarez.

If Valencia need to sell to meet FFP, I see why we are trying to play hardball. But over such a small amount in the grand scheme of things it's petty. Leaking other targets out trying to put more pressure on them to sell for what we are offering. I think it'll get done.

The problem with it is, with the hardball approach, we won't have him in time for Leicester and if you lose that your window approach has you behind in the league already.

Reports are we are still haggling over a fee with Valencia, still said to be about 5 million quid short of what they want lol.
Basic economics and psychology suggests that consumer and investor confidence will have knocked that £5m we're trying to save off, based on share price and merchandise consumption. Or more.

It'd be just like us, lose £10m in value while trying to save £5m on a £30-40m transfer.

Yeah, but it's worth throwing away 10pts this month to save a few pounds.

Exactly. I see why we are doing it, but I hate that they're doing it. Just sign the players and get them in as soon as we can and compete.

Any other manager in the world would be sacked for his ineptness in the market, but they keep riding on that dick of what he has done for the club.
Created us into a highly financially stable club and the success we had years ago.
I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, maybe he is being forced into such actions, but you can see why the fans are so frustrated.
All these profits, such high ticket prices and the club won't spend shit.

The media does make it worse, being "linked" to such great targets and we do absolutely nothing.
I'm genuinely concerned we won't do shit, maybe some panic average signings.
The longer it goes on the less likely it is we'll get the bigger names, because clubs aren't stupid enough to sell unless they got someone coming in.
I actually regret getting Optus now to watch us play, Wenger just creates such a frustrating environment to the team.
I truly would not blame Ozil and Sanchez wanting to piss off due to the lack of ambition Wenger shows.

He's just stuck in his early 00's era, where you can sign some hidden talent for cheap.
It's much harder these days, so much more money is going around scouting these players and the likes of Chelsea/City/United just spending a heap on even talent for the future.
I'd never turn my back on the club no matter how bad it gets and I appreciate going for a club that is quite successful in comparison to those who support teams that go up and down, especially those who have just fallen to shit and can't get back up to the big leagues.
But Wenger himself (assuming nothing behind the scenes) brings this shit upon himself, and his stink of denial and blame is going on too much. More than happy for him to stay if he can figure his shit out but if someone like Simeone wanted to club, I wouldn't even think twice about pissing the old guy off.

More than happy to admit I am just a whinging idiot if we do manage to do well this season or if we get some good targets. It's just more out of frustration that keeps building up, especially the last two years.

It will be interesting to see whether fan sentiment really does turn against Wenger in a meaningful way this season. In the past there have been somewhat vocal minorities expressing there displeasure but just as loud groups singing 'One Arsene Wenger.' I expect this will mostly depend on on field results.

What I don't know is what prompts the club into doing something: bad team performance/loss of champions league, empty stadium/loss of the fans, loss of commercial deals/damage to brand. Most of these are interrelated. Or will Wenger still be the determinant of his own fate regardless anything? How bad would things need to get for a decision to be made before the end of the season?

With Kroenke, it'll be about the $$. And that comes down to the fans not turning up, not shelling out for the merchandise et al.
