If Joel Campbell can't get a spot in the matchday squad, what hope does Gnabry have?

It's sad and frustrating that a talented, hard-working player like Joel Campbell misses out on playing football for this club on account of Wenger being a senile moron.

How did Akpom make the squad over him?

The only striker we had available, Ox already on the bench as a wide option. I'd have Campbell ahead of both Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain but we all know that Wenger doesn't see it that way.
Campbell is a better striker than Akpom. Campbell has played as a striker for Costa Rica.

Never for Arsenal though, he is clearly seen as a wide player for us while Akpom is more an out and out striker. Not saying I agree with the team selection at all but there was some logic to it.

There is no logic to anything Wenger does anymore. None.

1. Wenger claimed weeks ago that Walcott isn't suitable to the wing - at all. What does Wenger do? He plays him on the wing over Joel Campbell - a quality, workhorse player who obviously has the traits Wenger himself noted were required for this role.
2. Wenger said he sees Walcott as a striker, and a good enough one to head into the season with. Now - if Walcott is a striker (and if he's good enough) why would you start Alexis at CF instead?

In a huge season opener at home, Wenger not only played our best wide player at CF (a guy who has shown be unable to get it done there in this league), but he also played the guy he clearly and publicly thinks is a shit winger on the wing, and played one of the best wingers at the club in the Under 21s.

Senile old dumbass.

Looks like Arsene has found another bargain, instead of getting Mustafi, he seems to have turned his eye to Fonte according to one of the chip wrappers.

Wouldn't be like Arsene to forego quality just to get a cheap stop gap in...

He's treated Campbell with contempt. He really should've been sold 2 years ago, his career has been stifled at Arsenal.

He should move on for his good. Interesting to recall the comments Wenger made after Campbell's performance in that pivotal game against Olympiakos.

'I always thought the attitude was there,' said Wenger. 'But after the Olympiakos games where we had a knife on the throat, he turned up with something special.

'That was massive for us. And then I thought he could play under pressure as well, and that is important for us.

'He came in at a very sensitive period. What is interesting in Campbell's case is that he looks like he has gained more confidence and authority. In the final third, he is a dangerous players, and he has shown that.

'He has surprised me. You want to be surprised by the quality of your players. Where he surprises you is in the intensity of his team-work. When you look at the goals and assists, you must say he has been a very positive and he works hard for the team.'

What happened next?

He gets axed from the squad entirely.

Because Arsene Knows Best.

Gnabry's still on our list? Could have sworn we shipped him off somewhere in the last window. When did he last play for us?

We sent him out on loan for 15/16. The problem was apparently nobody did their homework, and he was sent out to West Brom, where noted halfwit and complete ****stick Tony Pulis refused to play him because he wouldn't sit in his own penalty box, play long diagonal balls, and hack the bone.

The assumption is that WBA admin signed Gnabry without asking Pulis, and Pulis refused to play him both to spite the office, and because skilled technical players have no place in his lineups.

Gnabry came back in January, and it's taken this long to get his form and confidence back.

With Kroenke, it'll be about the $$. And that comes down to the fans not turning up, not shelling out for the merchandise et al.
The stadium will always be relatively full. Plenty of tourists want to go to games.

So he couldn't do it on a cold, rainy Thursday night at West Bromwich Albion?

Iwobi out for 4 weeks, Ramsey about the same. Guessing the rested Euro trio are still a week away from returning too.

The scenes if we lose to Leicester...
