I'd be okay with it.

Id be happy for her, but to win a Grand Slam with the game she plays..
She's hit more winners in this set than she has the whole tournament.

Yes Kim. :thumbsu:
Pretty good match so far, some good rallies.

Kim should win this now, you would have to think.

I don't like Wozinacki's game but it's allowing for some fun rallies in the match.

2007 AO SF
2008 AO SF
2009 US SF

Nadal can have some absolutely brutal but entertaining SF losses. Del Potro just crushed him. Incredible stuff.

Expect Federer to:

  • Not stand 50m behind the baseline at all times.
  • Actually mix things up and attempt to bring JMDP out of his comfort zone.
The great one in 4 tough sets.

I'll risk saying what everyone else is thinking....you can take the girl out of the hood but can't take the hood out of the girl.

lol I was thinkin the same thing, but replace hood with ghetto.

Sad thing is you know should he reach the final, despite playing remarkably well to get there, he'll crumble against Federer.

Yeah, this was the match-up that I wanted to see the least, because I would bet my big footy existence that fed wins in 3 easy sets.

I'm going to be nitpicky and say Rafa didn't make the semifinals at Australian Open in 2007. He lost to Gonzo in the quarterfinals. :p

On paper Federer should win, but Delpo's shown he can take it up to Federer. I'm expecting a great match. :thumbsu:

Great to have you back Kim, incredible story. Got to enjoy the way she plays as well, one of the best movers on the tour along with hard hitting groundies. In a tennis world full of teenagers and in their early 20's, for a mother to win is something the WTA needed.

I wish Woiznacki's game wasn't so boring, personality and looks wise, she's the complete opposite

Precisely. With the mouth watering prospect of a Federer V Nadal and two cracking semis as well the womens is really simply a sideshow getting in the way of scheduling. Give the girls their piggybacking money and get them out of the way in time for the real action.

This was a quality post that went seemingly unnoticed.

Still find it incredible that a player, after being retired for 2 years and having a baby, can comeback and win a grand slam in her 2nd/3rd (?) tournament back. Especially a player who, whilst in the top bracket, was never a dominant force prior to retirement.

There's one of two reasons
a) She is a freak
b) The standard of tennis is such that it allows for something like this to happen

I'm going for 10 and 90 split. Its a great effort, much like Goran at Wimbledon and must be commeneded. But surprising nonetheless that she was able to beat so many professionals that had been practicising for the past two years.

It says a lot about the womens game when an unseeded player, not having played for 2 years can win the grand slam. Great win Kim she deserves the win.

Wozniacki needs to improve on her first and 2nd serve if she is going to challenge any of the power hitters in the womens game.

I felt she had a fairly easy draw as well getting to the final (Only beating an uninterested Kuznestova)

Im also a firm believer that womens tennis do not deserve equal pay. The standard of play is far below the mens and for women its just a cop out excuse to get a quick pay.

I'd say Kim was a dominant force. She was like Roddick, Federer was in his way all the time. In Kim's case it was Henin.

Yeah pretty good comparison. However in the womens game it is just so even. There's only a few that really stand out from the rest. The rest its a lottery and anyone can win on a given day. Anyway well done Kim. Great effort to come back and win it.

What a about Federer's shot:eek:. Absolutely amazing. Crazy. He's a genius.

I'm still a believer of if they want equal pay, play the best of 5 sets.

Freak. Federer's shot bumped Clijster's win off the front page of The Age website. Amazing shot, but he's done it at least once before - albeit in a much less important match. (2005 against Agassi at IW or Miami from memory.)
