It was a garbage match. One of the worst grand slam finals i've seen. Federer's serve is the cornerstone of his game these days it when it falls apart so does Federer... that 5th set was just atrocious.... nice win for Del Potro. :thumbsu:

I wonder if his back is okay. I thought the match was okay in terms of quality, but the fact that Del Potro won kind of makes up for it.
 
Well Done Juan, he's improved his game so much over the last 18-24, completely deserved the title.

Just crazy match, so many wacky turns. Things looked normal for a set and a half for Federer (even though he was serving poorly for basically the whole match) but suddenly seemed to lose concentration a bit, del potro goes a little nuts with his forehand then we're suddenly a set all.

This match wasn't the highest quality at all, it really came down to mental strength and oddly enough the 15 GS champion wasn't as strong as the guy who won none. That 5th set again was like AO, Roger completely collapsed, no footwork espically for the backhand, just contiunally mishitting the shot.

del Potro was just more solid, focused on getting more 1st serves in as the match wore on and that forehand at times :eek: Great weapon, he's becoming so much smarter in the way he plays, changes his game up a bit at times etc. Defiantely a fan of his game now.

Glad I made the choice to watch it on live stream, Nine having problems withe satelite and cutting out half the match it seems.

I was watching the CBS stream, and you could see how quickly they wanted to get it done, after they showed him holding the trophy they basically elft in a hurry to show.... How I met Your Mother repeats.

Federer = Port 2008/09, in terms of when the opponent puts down a challenge and actually gains what looks like a winning lead going on performance, he turns into a bitch with no plan B and can't fight his way back.

Happens every time nadal spanks him, and was perfectly exemplified today.

Well done Del Potro! Great win. If you dont choke eg. Nadal in Australian then you win, if you choke eg. Haas in French and Roddick in Wimbledon you lose.
Del Potro didn't choke and fully deserved the win.

roddick didnt choke...fed was serving out of his mind there

But i agree , federers reign is over...the new generation is now ready to takeover :D:thumbsu:

Exactly but hey he is the greatest player in the world ever remember :rolleyes: , when faced with quality opposition in the finals, he almost always crumbles

I know! The greatest moment of JMDP's life and he's not even allowed a couple minutes to give a speech... pricks.

Anyway, good win from Del Potro, hope this is the finally the end of Federer. :thumbsu:

i am enjoying this moment, i hope his reign is now over.Now jmdp can beat him and rafa and murray have his number as well.I think he has finally dropped the sack.....for good :D

If only Nadal and Murray would make the finals.

At the start of the year you said it would be Nadal and Nole's year ... 6 grand slams between them for 1 win vs Federer who made the finals in all slams.

Then in July you posted that Federer was in decline (Won Wimbledon, lost US Open Final since then)

Then yesterday you said JMDP would crumble in the finals.

Now today you are claiming that Federer is finished and you predicted he wouldn't win the US Open.
