Plugga, looks a good team and great getting some of the first 22 back. We will give Adelaide a run for their money and they are beatable. I am putting Freo down for a win.

Looking at Ch10 news last night, Walker & MCarr are a good 1-2 weeks away from a return & they may have to come thru the Wafl after being pout for so long. McPharlin also looked proppy & very much doubt that he'll play also....

So revising my team...

IN: Gilmore, Browne, Sandilands
OUT: Peake, Crowley, Murphy

Another interesting tidbit out of Ch 10 news was the revelation that Medhurst asked to play WAFL last weekend, but was denied by the AFLPA.

Is this fair dinkum?

AFLPA rules state that players have to have a game off.

211, Happy & Peake would have been right as they missed the Roo's & Sydney Games respectively and didn't play anywhere.

So it is probably right, and if it is it is an encouraging sign from Medders.

Which I can understand, but you would have thought such a rule is to protect the interests of the player, and consequently able to be overridden by the player himself who you would assume is able to judge his own best interests.

IMO, a run at Claremont would have done him the world of good.

Can you explain this please?

And yeah, you guys should give Murphy more game time. Look at Staker for us, played 4 useless games in a row and everyone was calling for his head but now is earning his spot each week.

You guys would look infinitely better with Murphy at FF, Pav at CHF and McPharlin released to play down back.

I Agree. The AFLPA seem to be too rigid sometimes IMHO.

No one is calling for Potato's head, we all realise that he is young been in the system a year less than Staker and needs bulking up. We can afford to ease him in as you blokes did with Hansen although hopefully a bit faster.

The query I have here is that Peake played against the Roos, why was he not "rested".

Geez if an AFL player requests to play WAFL in the break and there is a good reason (eg. improve form), the player is agreeing to play, go for it. To me it is a bit like working overtime, you are not required to, but if you want to.

Probably because he did not play anywhere on the previous weekend when he was an emergency for Sydney.

I agree, it seems stupid to me as well.

Yet Buckley plays for Backwater Bandits in the same round as he played an AFL match?

Anyway Adelaide by 49 points. If Brisbane win on Saturday night Adelaide know a win against Fremantle will give them 2nd spot..I cant see Adelaide letting that slip. I can see Adelaide coming out strong right from the start and blowing your guys away. Only concern is Bock V Pavlich..will be a good match for the young lad.

Yeah I think we should beat Freo at home. No idea what drugs Freo are on - beat Melbourne and geelong in Victoria, lose to Hawthorn at home ??? Hope the 'bad' Freo rock up to AAMI stadium and not the 'good' Freo.

Pavlich v Bock could pose a problem. Hopefully Bocky keeps up his good form.

Why not get Josh carr to tagg the ROO?????????????
I think that is more likely.

Adelaide is likely to be unchanged adding 3 youngsters to the squad.

From memory, Freo lost Bell to injury & added Sandilands, McPharlin, Smith Gilmore (?)

Looks like Roo and Hase will go head to head again.

We have got too much pace for Adelaide and with McPharlin back we will roll them.

You have maintained this sort of dribble for the last month. I am all for optimism but i am all the more for realism. Instead of getting players back more are going down.

We don't have the cattle to beat adelaide. Bell is a big loss!
I hope we are at least competitive. I see it being one of those games where we get blown out of the water and trail by 30 points at quarter time. Then we stick to that margain until halfway through the last term when adelaide kick away and win by 7-10 goals.

You are fair dinkum deluded Dwayo ;)

Interesting idea. You're all for optimism but shoot down in flames anyone who expresses any.

We will be competitive. We haven't been thrashed for a long long time and Adelaide aren't usually able to kick a high score. Richmond's defence is a lot weaker than ours for example.

Adelaide will probably win as all their best players are up and motoring. But we'll probably give a good account of ourselves for the first three quarters.

There are 9 games to go and as I have said it ain't over until it's over. We just need some players to fire and I will maintain that optimism, because that is what football is about.

I can imagine you as coach in the same situation. Nine games to go with the team a game and half out of the top 8. Maintain that the goal is achievable and have a go or have your attitude. I think the dribble is from you.

The supposed lack of pace doesn't seem to stop our players from finding the ball or winning games by large margins. Going on that theory perhaps Freo should recruit Shirvo for next season. :p
