Ok, my vent from last night.

Firstly - We stopped running again, we showed when they started to push us we couldn't/wouldn't win the contested ball.

secondly - 2nd quarter, we struggled badly but we had the ball on or around 50 a few times, yet tried to hit up a pass inside a congested forward 50. I wish we could have had those guys go back and try and slot it.

That's about it.

I'm not going through 7 pages of raging but my vent is kicking backwards. You'll find we hardly did any of that in the first quarter but from then on it was nonstop kicking backwards even if it's not to our advantage.
Also, hospital handpasses, we keep selling our teammates into trouble trying to handpass through the corridor and it often results in a turnover.

Re: Tuck, Taylor, Renouf,Morton

That is "talk". Not nearly enough (if any) talk between players this year = lack of team play & team spirit and Taylor/Lewis and the tons of others punching the ball when clear this season.

i have noticed this a lot myself, especially in the back line, we have 2 or 3 go up only to spoil each other

I reckon last night was about what I expected. Given the players available (remember that's about 8 missing from our best team) much more can't be expected. The big names played well but most younger players are just not up to senior footy yet.

Although we got beaten by an undermanned Saints, I'm pretty confident that if they were to have an underman team week after week, they would also fall apart. Actually, just look back at there previous years when they had a run of injuries, nothing went right for them. So there's proof.

Back to the Hawks, they had crack but were clearly out played. I'm not too upset about it. Season is over. I KNOW we are a better team, but this year was not to be. It started bad and will end that way.

Bring on a pre-season, get the players healthy for 2010 and we'll be back.

Umpire was pretty bloody terrible; one of the few times I felt like we've gotten the rub of the green; even if the free kick count doesn't show it.

The umpiring was just so frustrating. Those arbitrary 50 metre penalties...

As for defensive spoiling well, you're better off not to contest and thus avoid a certain free paid against you. Who knows, the forward might actually spill the mark and you've got half a chance when the ball comes to ground.

I reckon they should split the league into 2 seperate divisions, divvy 1 and divvy 2 , Hawks would win in divvy 2 or atleast play off in the Grand Final of Divvy 2 against maybe Freo?

I see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public.

Now you've done that, why not go and wait quietly for the red card to arrive?

I've thought in the past that a similar divisional league to UK soccer may have worked well for an even competition, problem here is there are just not enough supporters to make more than the core group of teams viable.

Can you imagine the protests if the league decided to go that way, especially if the bottom team (or 2) were relegated to the equivalent of the VFL? wonder how many would turn up to watch West Coast vs Werribee.

Splitting up the ladder into div1 and 2 would not really achieve that much, who wants to be the best of the worst?

I hope for your sake you win the flag this year... Can you imagine if you don't...?

Being the most dominant team ever and having just one flag to show for it would be depressing to say the least...

Tell me... are you feeling as confident this year as you were before last years finals...? I hope so, I've never forgotten the collective expression on the faces of Geelong's supporters when the Hawks took there cup away... It was like a little child who'd had their favourite toy confiscated, bottom lips shaking all around:p:thumbsu:

I'd love to see it again if the Saints can go all the way.

Also wanted to add that apart from the Bulldogs game we have been right in every match only just going down between about 3-4 goals each time. So, in reality we are competitive without playing well at all.

10 minutes (and i mean 10 mins is all we have been good for per game this year) of excellent play each game has kept us competitive. Imagine if we can string 10 minutes of excellent play each quarter next season!!:thumbsu:

One of the best posts I've read around here for a while.

Take note everyone.

Hey imagine if we had 4 Buddies and 6 Mitchells and Superman at full back. U make a valid point Franko but reality is being competitive without playing well is what seperates the top and bottom sides every year. This year we have not had the cattle on the park at the right time and we will not be stringing ten minutes of excellent play a quarter until our injured premiership players are back.

Nah, I'd prefer we keep the league exactly how it is and Hawthorn continues winning premierships against clubs who are renowned for their CHOKING tendencies. ;)

Re: Tuck, Taylor, Renouf,Morton

i cannot believe people are calling kennedy a gun and a good player.. what i saw on friday night by him wasn't even VFL standard, turning it over on numerous times, buddy was on a lead and he kicked in into the centre of the ground to 3 adelaide players, turn over goal. he couldn't even kick 40m at a shot for goal. if he isn't dropped this week then I'm going to bother with them anymore. Absolute joke.

Spot on
Geez your a hard man to please.
No go and have another look at the game. Kennedy along with the other kids that were playing were too slow and mucked around with the footy.

That is the right word for it. Seen a few of the more EXPERIENCED players do the same thing.
The experienced players have been out of form and have been carrying niggly injuries all year... Hence the poor form and why they aren't at the best.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I was at the game on Fri night and managed to strike up a conversation with other Hawks members around us. At Qtr time, we all agreed that we would still lose the match even though we were of to a flyer!!!

My point is that we dont want to be in the 8. The coaching staff and players are doing there very best to stay away from it. Roughy did nit do a knee last week and if he did the medical staff would have done everything to eep him on the field. If we really wanted to make the 8 we would have went on with the flying start and won the match. It was evident after half time.

THEY DONT WANT TO BE THERE!!!!

Its an Up Yours to the 52,000 members!!!!

I will renew my membership next year, but I can guarantee that the HFC will undo all there great work (Membership wise) after the p.ss poor, heartless showing in 2009!!!!! :thumbsd:

So it's excusable for the seniors to make turnovers but not the kids. Bit harsh.
:thumbsd:
You seriously are deluded....

You and everyone else in this thread have been expecting the kids to play above themselves.

When the TEAM plays poorly, it is normally through them carrying injury, form issues and consistancy problems.

Remember this phrase, which people like you seem to forget. There is no I in TEAM.

Team also stands for
Together
Everyone
Achieves
More

If you have a team that doesn't do all the team things then you are going to have a seriously woeful team.

Where have I stated that the kids need to step up more than they have. I said DON'T expect the kids not to turn the ball over. Composure comes with experience.
As for getting personal that is another story.

How come I cant make my own thread on here? I get some msg, Im not qualified or some crap. What is the Gee Oh here?
need to make 25 posts before you can start a thread champ!

4 weeks in a row I've been r*ped by the PUNT.....................:(

So he limped off the ground last week for no reason. He went back on.

And went off for surgery for no reason.

Harsh taskmaster!
