Morton, Wonna playing = WIN.

Watts named at CHF = HALLELUJIA. Let's hope he actually plays there. Given it's only him and Newton listed as the tall forwards, he would be a good chance to stamp himself on the game as a tall, not just a skilful winger.

That's actually a fairly good team.

I know positions are only a guide, but the naming of the team raises some interesting points.

1. Do we now give up on Martin as a backup ruck and forward prospect and put him back to the backline. The position where he arguably showed the most promise.

2. Does Morton resume as a half back flanker? Are we ever going to try him up forward.

1. After last week's performance, I'm tempted to give up on Martin altogether.

On a more serious note, though, I think defence is the only position on the ground that suits his capabilities, given that he doesn't really need to know where to run in order to succeed, as he just has to shut down his direct opponent.

2. If I was in charge of the side, I would put Morton in the senior side as a high half-forward, as that would allow him to make use of his running ability whilst also providing an option in the part of the ground where we are weakest. Further, his performances against Geelong highlight that he most certainly has the ability to kick goals, so I think that would suit him and the team given our current situation.

huh what? Watts up forward??........... surely thats a mistake, hes a winger right?

I wouldn't read to much into the positions of the players in the team, they may as well post a list of 1 to 25 in no particular order.

Au contraire, they definitely have some weight. Given the forward line is
HF Jetta Watts McGough
F Maric Newton Stockdale
it seems obvious that Watts and Newton are the designated key forwards, as opposed to previous weeks when PJ, Newton, Miller, Martin and Hughes have all been listed as fwd options and Watts could play up the ground.
And looking at Coburg's fwd line, TMac, Martin and Miller will all be needed down back to play on Morton, Griffiths, Post etc.

So looking at the overall balance of the team, it seems Watts will actually be playing where he's meant to this week. Thank f***.:thumbsu:

Good post using good reasoning.

I would expect Watts to spend some time at CHF, but I would think that Miller will be given the opportunity to play there as well, and at that point in the game, Watts will probably end up as a high HFF or winger.

Good to see Morton back as well.
