What I'd love to see us do is leave Murdoch in the dev league for an extended period, playing in the guts, until he gets the hang of playing midfield and is racking up pretty much 30+ possies every week. Then, once he's done that for an extended period of time and is really comfortable in the role, move him up to the Sandy seniors until he's doing the same thing there. Then, once he's killing it there on pretty much a weekly basis, we look at bringing him up to the seniors for us and play him in the midfield for as much as he's fit enough to and across HB, or up forward, for the rest of it.

Just use this year as a development year for him, learning how to play midfield and getting him used to getting his hands on the pill a whole lot and not worrying about whether he plays any seniors for us or not. We desperately need more midfield options, particularly ones that kick it really well and he is probably the prime candidate for that role outside the obvious choices.

Not sure he should spend whole year there as at the end of last year was a regular in the middle for Sandy seniors. Agree he should spend a heap of time in the guts for Sandy seniors as uses it very well and can kick a goal. Has the potential to be our next Montagna (when he was in his prime).

Reckon he is just having his load managed due to his back so great to see him getting through a full game and having great influence.
Maybe a couple more in dev league then get him up in the guts for seniors. IMO

Fair point. Like where your coming from there. Think we would all love to see him tearing it up week in week out.

I reckon moving Shenton out of the backline yesterday was clearing the way for Jimmy and/or Gilbo to return there either next week or the one after. Hard to see Jimmy not coming in if he is anywhere near his best today and is fit enough.
