Image if the pitch was like this! (this video is actually the WACA..haha)

anyone know the score in that innings?

While it is dangerous, it would be harder to get wickets than youd think.

No chance of an edge and would have to be lucky to hitthe stumps, as well as alot of byes.

dear god youre still going in to bat for Lyon. Give up on it already. You surely are related to him.

Its a green fast bowlers wicket. Get over it :thumbsd:
get off your freeking high horse you idiot...

The pitch is a green top - as if Harris/Hilf/Siddle couldn't get 20 wickets between the 3 of them seriously

I couldnt care less what we do cause we will win regardless, it's Your obsessions against Lyon is what you need to get over

I don't think Hilfenhaus will do well this test.

Perhaps pitches like it, but that was a 2nd XI special from 2010.

My bad, probably would have helped if I'd watched the clip. I assumed it was the West Indies wicket from the 90's that was a shocker

Ambrose took about 7-8 wickets for 1 run and the curator got sacked?

Tend to disagree, the bowlers who have had the most success this season have tended to be ones who move the a bit rather than the express quicks.

Also expect Lyon to definitely play. This pitch is not the bowling paradise that Hobart was. I'd bat first, if you can get through the first season without much damage you have the ability to post a decent score. With the pitch starting to get back to the WACA of old batting last is not a good idea.

I was one of the people in the video. We stood on a pitch that had been played on in a 2020 game earlier in the week. We were nowhere near the pitch that will be played on tomorrow, and it remained covered the whole time people were on the ground. This is the most stupid news report in history and is an embarrassment to the Indian media.

Would be a great excuse for them if it was the actual test match pitch.

Times of India ****s it up again.
Don't just pick on the Times of India, Fairfax Media also ran the story.

Unfortunately it is one of those things that once posted on youtube can go viral and is hard to actually explain the truth. By the pure look of it they may well of thought it was the actual pitch, in which case they would be well within their rights to be outraged.

If this happen in a country we were touring our press would be equally outraged. The Indian press may be questionable but I have no real problem this time.

i actually lol'd at the story

india love creating drama don't they

It's not just an India thing, media from all over the world do the same. I remember during the commonwealth games channel 7 of Australia ran a fake story about a reporter caring a bomb inside the main stadium which created huge panic in all the countries. Later ABC media watch busted that story. So it's the same story everywhere.

Viewed Pitch this morning, looks outstanding. Will be quick and bouncy and will move a bit first day.

Good players will score runs day 2, 3 and 4.

The question will again come up however are the modern players good enough to handle the moving ball?

Win the toss and bowl first I think is pretty logical after looking at the pitch, less than 24 hours to go and still a heavy grass cover, it will be shaved but there will be green grass on this pitch I would suggest.

Awesome, love watching good fast bowling and seeing these flat track bullies ducking and diving for cover.

Fantastic post.

Modern players, on the whole, seriously struggle against the moving ball. Big Sehwag fan but he is pretty close to a flat track bully. He won't be able to help himself against the moving ball. He'll waft and he'll edge.

Haddin will be clueless and have no idea what to do.

Clarke will have questions raised about his technique again. Same as Marsh. Both have shown an incapability of leaving the ball on a probing short of driving length just outside off.

Oh no! Batsmen won't be able to score at four an over and may have to exhibit a long forgotten skill of patience. How terrible.

Absolutely hate flat pitches. Both teams in their first innings should make around 300-350. That's how you know it'll be a cracking test match.

Could well be that the story is a lie but this itself is a little exercise in human nature. we believe what we want to be true. in India you believe the Times and take it as gospel, In Australia we believe some guy called Mick from Perth who tweeted the above and take it is gospel and we all believe him because we want to.

rang my old man this morning and he reckons it's pretty common for curators at australian ground's to have a few beers on the ground the night before their test matches.

according to that aticle they usually do it under the scoreboard at the WACA...

pitch will be fine today. will have got another shave. i would say slight bit of green but nothing much.

that video of the game earlier i reckon is this one

http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/256/256776.html

johnston (#11) and duffield (#10) are definately bowling in the video and one of the others bowling is probably edmonson (#7).

it's a low scoring game (still with one guy cracking a hundred) and if you look at the list of "other" matches at the WACA this is the only one played since 2008/09, in which the scoring in that NSW v WA 2nd's game is way too high for this pitch.

List of WACA games - http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Grounds/2/174_misc.html
2008/09 WA 2nds v NSW 2nds - http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/193/193410.html

and in that WA/NSW game the players don't match up because Duffield and Johnston are definately bowling in the video.

Warner played in that game from memory

in the youtube comments someone says warner scored a ton, but if you look at his list of other matches the only game played the WACA is from 03/04 in an under 17's game, and it's against Victoria. aside from the under 17 and 19 champs he played in perth the only game in this list at Perth is at Floreat Park.

Not that I have anything against what they've done but two points I'd like to make:
1- if it was the wicket from the t20 why would the hessian cover be placed beside it.
2- the crease painting is clearly visible. The t20 crease painting would've been mowed out by this point.

The t20 game was played, what last Sunday?

looking at the scorecard it's not johnston but johnson (a wicketkeeper) playing for WA 2nd's... that #11 has a very similar action to johnston who is now playing in Tasmania.... i'm so sure it's him but he's not on the scorecard.

the helmets of the batsmen are also blue....

very confused. i can't find any othe game that mtches up. the left armer is definately duffield and the only second XI game he has played at the WACA is the game in the scorecard above

If it was the T20 pitch wouldn't there still be visible marks from the bowlers etc. I can't say I noticede any in the picture I saw
