Keeping in mind that there is still one match to play (South Freo vs Subiaco) looks like the boys had another good week in the WAFL though correct me if I'm wrong cause I didnt actually see any of the games.

Goals:

Medhurst x 5 (he will be with the Eagles next year if he doesn't get picked by Freo first)
Buszan x 4
McDougall x 2
Humm x 1
Turnball x 1
McIntosh x 1
McCarrey x 1

BOG:

Turnball
Buszan

Not a bad week. Anyone actually see any of the games and can report further?

Was that a typing error or are you serious!?!? WTF was he playing there. Hey, I know Swan Districts are crap this year but surely not so much that they have to play him at FB!!!

I listened to the game EPvSD on ABC radio and yes Cummings played on Buzsan all day and was beaten.
After a slow start the Royals put pressure on Swans and caused many turn-overs which resulted in easy goals.
Antonowicz played a good game both up forward and in defence.

Pretty much agree with ya there, except on Harding. He was not ok, he played woefully. Waited for the easy ball, sold his team mates into trouble, didn't run to shepherd and couldn't get the ball (when kicked) within 10m of his target.

Claremont v Perth

West Perth had the bye this week and I had a heavy night coming so I slacked off and watched the Claremont v Perth game on the ABC. Now obviously you don't get as good a picture on TV as live, but here goes anyway:

McIntosh: looked completely out of match fitness (which is why he was playing in the WAFL no doubt). Was late, slow and gave away a lot of free kicks without ever looking like doing much. Simply due to his size and presence, he looks too good for the WAFL, but I wouldn't bank on him coming back next week unless for a specific task on a big, slow St Kilda forward (not sure there'll be one with Loewe out and Hall likely to be suspended, not that Hall's that slow!)

Harding: looked like an average WAFL defender. Any confidence he had has completely deserted him and I expect him to be delisted. His zoning off to avoid contact is embarrassing.

Medhurst: is just too good as a crumber in the WAFL. Will we pick him up when we have so many good small forwards? If Chad Morrison returns from the knee, where will he play (because I can see Chad and Wirra being unable physically to play down back all the time and having to pinch hit as small forwards when Matera & Merenda aren't on song)? With small lists, this is an issue, but I'd like to see Medhurst in the AFL.

Gaspar did his hamstring yesterday while playing for South Fremantle. Should be at least two weeks out.

I heard that Antonowicz was soundly beaten and had to be moved into the forward line. But I didn't go to the game so I can't say if that was true or not.

Bad news for Gaspar - hopefully he'll be back for Rounds 20 onwards

Not only did he give away a couple of frees, but weren't a couple of them 50's? I think he'll have another week in the WAFL and then come back for the Freo game. But, in saying all that, he wouldn't be totally up to speed on Claremont's game plans etc - he hasn't played a game for them since 1995 or something like that!

Totally agree. I never agreed with us picking him up in the first place.

I think we should have a go at getting him. Or, if we don't Freo should. He's young, he's got the talent and is a 'hungry' player. Whilst being 'hungry' can often mean being a selfish and non-team type of player, I think hunger is what we need. Our players regularly look like they can't be bothered, and leave it to guys like Cousins to pick up the slack. As I've said in previous posts about Medhurst (on the regional board I think), he's had a couple of weeks with 7 or 8 goals and regularly gets 4/5. Keeping WA players should be a priority too - no worries about homesickness/transitional problems to deal with etc. I like him.

Unfortunately the stats are probably against Morrison. It's not often a player comes back from major knee probs and finds top pre-injury form.

On Medhurst as you can see below he is a handy player and will be drafted in the first few rounds.
