Two more “longest droughts” I have noted:
  • Scored three or fewer goals in a match – Subiaco have not scored three or fewer goals in a match since Round 16, 1966, where they scored 3.3 (21) against West Perth’s 4.17 (41) in an incredible match where only three of the forty players kicked a goal!
  • Conceded three or fewer goals in a match – Perth have not conceded three or fewer goals in a match since Round 16, 1996 (ironic!) when West Perth (again!) scored 3.12 (30) to the Demons’ 11.19 (85). This is the only time Perth have held an opponent to three goals or less since that (in)famous Round 15, 1967 match against East Fremantle, whilst Peel have not held any of their 354 opponents to under six goals.
The Subiaco record is something of real interest to me – in the VFL/AFL the longest streak without scoring three or fewer goals dates back to 1975 (Hawthorn) and the longest without conceding three goals or fewer in a match is to 1971 (Melbourne).

What was the path he took to getting the 30 goals?

I was trying to discover which player you are referring to. I cannot find any recent mention within this thread by Up For Grabs of a footballer playing for Glenelg in 1988. Is it in one of the very early pages?
And what do you mean by "the path he took"? Are you asking for his weekly goal tallies?

Warren Ralph should be the answer.

Sorry guys - yeah, Warren Ralph is the player.

I've just had a look and I can only find 16 goals during the 1988 season, so maybe there were Pre-season goals included.

Would be much easier if all these things were accessible and definitive :)

I have found 19 goals during 1988, but have not checked any SA pre-season games.

Hi guys. WAFL FootyFacts has been redesigned and re-launched. Now with either partial or complete details for over 7100 WAFL league footballers and a range of new stats to explore. There are still a massive number of players not included and a large number of players details are incomplete. More player stats are being added weekly. Qtr by qtr scores for all but 12 games since 1898 and a growing database of attendance records are included.

Some areas of the site will be added in the near future such as streaks & sequences and west side footy and budgets sections.

Please take a look www.waflfootyfacts.net and enjoy!

Please use the contact link on the site for feedback.

Cheers

The Site is amazing and I know I for one will spend many many hours reading your work.

I don't know if its possible but would love to see jumper number's in the player records(Where possible)

But keep you the great work, Its great to see people trying to keep the history of the WAFL alive.

Thanks for the feed back Michael - player number are included for every swans player and many others already. I'll be adding others as I have the time it's on the long list of to do's. I hope eventually to have records for each jumper number - like most games, goals etc just don't have enough player data with jumpers yet.

Just going to throw this one out there.
Does anyone have any numbers on Past Subiaco Captain's who have worn Number 1 while captain?

Does the WAFL include WAFL preseason games in players' senior games and goals totals, as does the SANFL?

Yesterday saw an extraordinary game between West Perth and East Perth, when the Royals led by 42 points midway through the third quarter, only for West Perth to not only come back to claim victory but win comfortably by a margin of 38 points.

While the WAFL, like all leagues, has games where teams have chased down big deficits to win narrowly, such as a game last year where West Perth came from 8 goals down at 3/4 time to beat Peel Thunder by a point, but I don't recall any games off hand where a side trailing by so much has won by so much.

Does anyone have any stats of similar WAFL games over the years, where a side trailing by a big margin ends up winning by a big margin?

No, but they include all national cup games such as the old VFL night Series games such as the Escort Cup and also FOXTEL Cup games, there was a night series played in 1968 between bottom 4 teams which are also included in official games tallies.

Has the WAFL ever named an official "Team of the Year" ?
I don't mean a media-based selection, rather one selected by or on behalf of the League.

Tassie started to do so about three years ago, and I know the VFL sometimes named a TOY in the 1980s, not sure about SANFL.
