McPharlin.

He's done a better job over a longer period of time. Waite's 'potential' is still hyped up nowadays at the age of 25.

I rate Waite, but he needs to play a full season at one end of the ground and do well before we praise him. McPharlin is very underrated as a defender.

Mcpharlin by a bit.

Since he plays in a shit team, where all the media focus is on Pavlich, he goes alright, and is one of the most under-rated CHB's in the game, and is an athletic freak, can take a screamer when he wants to. he constantly does good jobs on key defenders, but gets no praise.

Waite is the polar opposite, plays in one of the most popular teams, while very athletic and a solid player, can go hot or cold, apart from his bitch Riewoldt he hardly ever dominates his player, and while he can go forward, Ild rather Mcpharlin forward.

Both good players, Ild take Mcpharlin however

I'd also like to add - Waite has that much sought after X-Factor.

I think he'd be better suited to Carlton playing as a 3rd tall forward, obviously Carlton are undermanned down back ATM so we won't see that happen.

Yeh i don't think Waite is best suited to CHB...

he just lacks a bit to dominate an opponent down back and is moresuited to play loose down back or on the wing or up forward kicking goals

thanks for your contribution:thumbsu:

Bahaha. I knew you'd come back with a retort like that.

Explain to me why I'd bother typing practically the exact same sentiments, when someone's already written them for me?

No contest
McPharlin is far superior. Is a terrific man on man defender and can also go forward and win games. Takes a great pack mark while Waite is more likely to look flash but I don't seem him matching guys for strength or holding his ground in a contest. Needs to run at the ball to be a chance while McPharlin can do that as well.

to actually contribute something...instead of taking the easy way out?

Now go back and suck of Buddy would you!

McPharlin - everyday of the week and twice on Sunday's.

Reason - better backman, better forward, better footballer.

Wish we still had him. Would slot nicely in at FB/CHB.

McPharlin by a long way.

He is far better a backman, and he can move forward and play that competently, is a very strong mark and very good body size.

Waite is weak, unnacountable and not very good defensively, should be used up forward.

Waite is a top-shelf talent, capable of match winning, spectacular efforts, mixed in with a few gaffs. McPharlin is much much lower on the talent spectrum, and would struggle to make most starting lineups. The Blues list is biased toward high talents, rather than lower talent more reliable no-upside plodders (e.g. 80% of the Pies list), and so Waite suits us fine. :)

I am yet to see this, as I'm sure much of the BigFooty community are as well.

Since when has Waite won Carlton a match?

I think this 'potential' of Waites is not going to be realised at Carlton. Some players act on their potenital, and others need to be in performing sides to reach it. I think Waite is one of those players, so he will be good for Carlton, but never quite be what he may have been at a team such as Hawthorn now for instance.

Having said that I would obviously pick Waite...
