Just heard from our resident BG @ the ground.
Went straight down to the rooms apparently
More to come shortly......

Collision with Robert Murphy, late in 1st quarter,
Looked very sore and disappointed when leaving the ground.

Crowd 7000 just before quarter time, estimated 10,000 now

I'll be super-pi55ed if he misses the start of the year with a shoulder injury. To begin with, his pre-season was interrupted 'cos the match commitee let him play out the end of the last year with a bung arm rather than send him off for surgery, and now this. Steaming....

Heard Bluegal in rooms and kissing it better as we speak!
Hope he is OK!

Was right in front of it. He was pissed as hell, as he walked off to sit on the bench he punched the shit of the wall and scared the shit out of me. At the moment I'm spewing more then him, can't believe they let him play today!

afl website is saying murph got done not waite dunno wats going on

"But it wasn’t all good news for the Blues with young gun Marc Murphy set to face the tribunal after a heavy clash with Bulldog Mitch Hahn, and defender Andrew Walker sent to hospital for scans on his troublesome shoulder after another solid hit." afl.com.au

On SEN Ratts said he wasn't sure what it was, he'll be having tests in the next couple of days. He said hopefully it was just a heavy knock but it's the same shoulder :(

I was at the game, both Waite and Murph were right there when the incident occurs. Don't know if there was video footage shown, but I thought at the time that Murphy laid the hit.

As for the Walker injury, he went for a lunging tackle IIRC and stayed on the floor in a lot of pain. Shattered, but hopefully it's minor.

The only positive from the walker injury was that when he was heading towards the rooms at 1/4 time he wasn't holding the arm up like (sling postion) you usually see when someone hurts their shoulder.

Thought the same thing. In fact, I didn't even realise it WAS his shoulder bothering him, as he stayed down for a while. He walked off without a limp, and with his arms holding the back of his head. So I thought there would be soreness, but nothing else.

We'll have to wait for the doc's diagnosis.

According to someone on TC who's heavily involved with the club (recruiting) it appears at this stage to be more cartilage damage than ligaments.

What kind of difference would this make to recovery time Bluebear?

I may not be BlueBear, but i'd like to try and make some sort of sence of this.

As most of us know, a ligament is basically the connective tissue, kind of like elastic, protecting the joint. If it were the ligament in his shoulder that were the problem, and the problem was pretty severe, he would have to under go surgery and miss a load of football, although not all cases result in surgery.

It's better for Walker to have cartilage damage rather than ligament, as the surgery isn't as necissary. In this case, it is, as Walker would want to get back on the field as quick as possible. If the cartilage is infact damaged, it can be replaced over time by fibrocartilage scar tissue, or can be replaced through chandroplasty.

Walker would definately be up and about much quicker if it is cartilage damage rather than ligament.

Also, I thought that it was more cartilage damage than anything when Walks was coming off of the ground yesterday, as the bone didn't seem to have popped out of place, due to a problem with the ligament.

Who would have thought enjoying football would have lead me to make a post regarding anything in the medical genre?:p

Why not take your own advice and read the 2nd last line of EBIAC's post - directly answers the question raised by MM3.

Now, what I'd like to know is where the hell EBIAC at 15/16 pulled that from?

If you had paid any attention to the thread, you would know that he's yet to see a speciallist, my guess is as good as anyones. I'm just trying to shed some light on how both work for as best as I can for those who don't know.

I suspect as we don't know (well I dont) exactly what kind of surgery he had in the off-season on the shoulder this could be hard to assess.. sure the shoulder didn't pop out (which is promising, I know have a bad shoulder as well), so that rules out excessive ligament damage/stretch which equates to a around 4-6 weeks out at least.

But if he had a screw put in in the surgery and that has been displaced it could be quite serious...

He could have even have a shoulder fracture too... but at this moment whatever it is... I'm punting 4-8 weeks out.
