I think the AFl need to change the rules
The PSD should be for delisted players only.
whena player moves from one club to another is must be by Trade and the Trade value should be made to be equivelent to any other offer from other clubs - simple really

If Carlton aren't desperate to get him, why is it that they've spent the entire week trying to get him?
.

probably because there is barely anything worthwhile on the trade table this year - its probably the quietest trade week in history.

personally i think pick 24 for warnock is fair enough. freo have to accept that carlton cant get an earlier pick - and it seems like they arent really interested in a sweetner, they are just trying to bring melbourne into the equation with pick 19 - hoping the closer the deadline comes, robbie and his manager bend over and decide he wants to play for melbourne.

honestly what sort of sweetner could freo want? any one of bentick, ackland, bannister, saddington or at best Cloke would be the best they could hope for

personally i think 24 and Cloke would be a good result for Freo - cloke is still a decent age - can play ruck and forward, and their list is going to be extremely thin of "ready made" AFL players next year - and cloke would be a much needed bigger body to protect what will be the youngest list in the comp next season

Carlton football manager Steven Icke said it seemed inevitable an AFL mediator would be called in. "We met with Fremantle this afternoon and there is every chance we will be needing to call in a mediator," he said.
"When you think about it, Fremantle are asking for an earlier second-round pick. We can't get it.

Fremantle must find the balance between pushing for the best deal and not getting anything.

Asking for pick 15-20 from Carlton is stupid as they dont have it. Surely they must ask for pick 24 + either pick 42?? or a suitable player.

At least then you are asking for something Carlton has and it would be a win win for both clubs.

Please note i am assuming the article is correct which may be a big assumption.
What the hell have I been doing posting in the other thread.........finally found the sensible one.

Well done mate.:thumbsu:

I agree, Carlton really should stop being so ridiculous and thinking they have any right or say in where Warnock continues his career. :thumbsu:

All we have done is make a job offer. Warnock wants to accept and it is the interference in this process that is causing all of the trouble.

Whats so funny is that they think we are so desperate to get him...

Yeah you guys have shown no interest whatsoever?

On an unrelated note - I had a dream last night about a 50m foot navy blue seagull who kept attacking relentlessly me for a 200cm chip I was holding.

Bizzarre - I wonder if anyone interprets dreams can tell me what that means?

Well if you meet us in the GF in 2009 ....you will probably win.

Also I agree on your assessment of your rucks and your mids.

Imagine what would happen if you .......put...... and this is a far out suggestion - a good ruckman with your midfield.

Insane - I know?

Judd and his merry band of brothers roving to a CHF - how is that working for you?

A good ruckman, with a good midfield!? Are you insane man! It would never work...

ahh your a smart guy, and funny aswel. OK lets just forget the fact that melbourne have already let it be known to freo that our pick 19 is on offer because thats 'insane'. Say both Freo and Carlton reach a standstill on Friday. Freo panic because they have no other offers other than Carlton's pick 24 and are forced to take it as they will get nothing otherwise.
That is a loss for Freo and Melbourne.
What Melbourne have done is offered up our pick 19 which forces Carlton to strike a better deal or Warnock comes to us. This would result in a win for both Freo and Melbourne. The world doesn't revolve around carlton mate. What your arrogant football dept doesn't understand is that both parties have to be satisified and you are refusing to match the market value for Warnock.

It doesn't matter whether Melbourne have offered Pick 19 or not (which they haven't because they aren't part of the negotiations), in much the same way as it didn't matter whether Richmond were offering Picks 2, 17 & 19 for Judd. Just as Judd wanted to join Carlton & therefore Richmond weren't part of the negotiation process, Warnock also wants to join Carlton, therefore Melbourne are irrelevant to this exercise.

Should Carlton walk away from this trade because of the stubbornness of the Fremantle administrators, Melbourne are very welcome to offer Pick 19, but they won't because they know they can select Warnock in the PSD for nothing, if Carlton have pulled the pin. In other words, Melbourne haven't offered anything, just made some noises in the hope that Freo won't do a deal with Carlton, allowing Warnock to slip through to the PSD.

So if Warnock doesn't sign a new contract, isn't this what he becomes?

Yeah I want to lie on Cott beach all day but my interference, sorry employer won't allow it either.

Humor me - how many games did he play this year Dockers? / West Perth? or was he injured??
Was sulking on the two's while Bradley was playing back up ahead of him IIRC.

I know but they called Eienstein crazy, they called Logie insane and they called Ben Franklin fatty la la but I digress.

I think Cloke is on HGH and this is all a ruse to divert our attention....I am writing to the AFL now to demand a urine test on Cloke if he pats Sandi on the head in the first pre-season amtch.

I believe we will win the war over Warnock, I think pick 24 is fair enough considering he hasn't played many games and it's a strong draft.

You will only win if you use a flanking manouvre.

So pick 24 and a flank in Browne please and we surrender.

Threats wont work.

you should tell your club that - at this point of time, i would be putting odds on freo getting jack shit for him and him walking to melbourne - which considering the plethora of retirements, delistings and players walking on the club at the moment - you cannot afford

just take pick 24 freo - stop acting tough, no one can treat someone trying to act tough in purple seriously - even that fat purple prick from macca's isnt scary.

all this acting tough for Warnock ( abloke u drafted with pick 50 something and has played 7 AFL games ) - and meanwhile you are letting J.Carr walk for free to Port in the PSD - a bloke you traded 3 decent picks for only a couple of years ago.

it would be so funny if no trade can be done, Warnock puts a price on his head that Melbourne could not afford and Carlton get him with Pick 6 in the PSD....

A real possibility....

With Warnock going overseas today, I don't think he will accept being traded to Melbourne, He wants Carlton. Players can't be traded if they don't want to be...... = spanner in your works......

Freo can quite easily refuse to trade him to Carlton which means he goes into the PSD where he has no choice. If Melb picks him in the PSD he either plays with them or he doesnt play footy at all in 2009.

No point bring logic into this mate, doesn't register for this issue, these clowns are deluded.

You can forget Browne and Armifield for that matter.

You can't trade a player in the first 23 months of their first contract after being selected in the ND.
He is a first year player.

You can however select from Blackwell, Benjamin, Saddington, Ackland, some VISY recylcing bins, or a ride in DP's private jet to the value of $3000.:thumbsu:

Do Freo supporters genuinely believe Melbourne will needlessly give them Pick 19 if the Warnock deal with the Blues falls through?

I'm sure Melbourne's administrators are nice guys, but I doubt they do charity.

Or Fremantle simply get him with pick 3. Now THAT would be funny.

Am i wrong in saying that a player in his 1st contract can not be traded???

I know Freo delisted Collard last year after his 1st year in footy, but i thought there was a clause about trading 2nd year players...
