Bye Bye aspirations. My hopes have been given thier marching orders as of yesterday.I now am convinced that we are pretenders and pose no real threat on the flag.I believe that we can still, somehow make it to the granny but i have lost all confidence. We have won one game against quality opposition being the crows. We beat Freo in Melbourne which means nothing. We were beaten by Sydney,West Coast and Brisbane at home along with disappointing losses to the Bombers and the Hawks. We couldnt beat Port or Brisbane away from home.

We have beaten Richmond x2,Carlton x2,Geelong x2, Adelaide, St.kilda,Melbourne,Bulldogs,Kangeroos,Frementle.

If we are to amount to anything in 03 then we must perform in the next fews weeks and win a couple.

The way we played yesterday, we will be lucky to win another game. WE are going to have to play 100% better against the Crows, Swans, and Bombers, if we are to have any hope of doing well in the finals.

I have been saying for ages that we have not been playing as well as people would have you believe.
Sure the end results over the past 6 weeks have been impressive, but the actual on field play has not been.
I found it frustrating that those who don't go to games wouldn't take me seriously, even on here I got the feeling posters thought the GF was a formality.
People who go to the games week in week out know we were never playing as well as the scores indicated.
Last week as I left the Geelong game I said "If we start like that against a top team we will be 10 goals down at half time and never be able to get back into it".
I still believe we have the capacity to play well in the finals and I think we will win against Adelaide, but against power sides like Brisbane and Port we will struggle.

I happen to go everyweek
I could not agree with you more, I fail to see us winning against adelaide and Essendon.
I can't see how we can keep up with the pace of Adelaides midfield and the strenght of Essendons Forward line.
Sydney should be a win, although I think that I know my Collingwood!!!!
I sincerly Hope that I am wrong this time!!!

At times it is.....actually you ought to be feeling the pinch right about now also.

As for the rest of this thread.....ppppfffftttttt!!

MY GOSH! Perhaps you should try and set your expectations at a more realistic level. Obviously we are not good enough right now to match it consistantly with the Lions, Ports & Crows of this competition. We still have a fair way to go yet but I am satisfied with what I have seen so far, and I am fully confident that this club is on the right track.

Patience is a virtue :)

The club's on the right track? Interesting point.

Certainly, being on the right track would indicate an improvement every year. Now, whilst speaking purely from a ladder position at end of season point of view, that would mean we'd hvae to win the flag to improve. But that's not the case. Adelaide, Port, and others have improved on previous years, so we could conceivably improve (less than Adelaide, Port etc) and go down the ladder. Fair enough too.

But are we improving? Lokan's come on, Shaw's come on, we've got some speed there. But we've lost our most promising small forward. One of the few midfielders we've got that can kick both sides has been banished, seemingly never to return, and its odds-on to leave the club at the end of the year. Our other small forwards, pre-season the strength of our club, are floundering. Didak, Davis, barely got a kick between them all season. Lord help us if Tarrant goes down.

Meanwhile, you have players who have gone waaaaaaaaay down on last year's output. Molloy's probably improved on last year... but he played about 150 minutes combined last year. It's sad that "probably" has to be used. McKee's shown that he is, in actuality, a hack. Cloke and McGough have hit the ground after their stellar first seasons, showing that they are pretty one-dimensional and are found out easily. Andrew Williams is the softest player I've seen play the game at this level.

No doubt most of the problems with the team lie in the fact that the team is young. No doubt our youth is extremely talented. But so is Essendon's. So is Geelong's. So is the Western Bulldogs'. So is Fremantle's. I could go on. The question is - is our youth good enough to win us a flag before Buckley, Burns, Wakelin, Rocca etc retire? God, I hope so.

A pessimistic view perhaps. But it sure beats talking about grand finals after beating Richmond, Geelong and Carlton.

L-Nizzy spot on.
The only thing I would add is that Lokan, as a first year player is getting tired as you would expect. Shaw still needs heaps of work on his kicking.
As to Scotland I don't know any Pie supporter who can understand why he is not in the side. His skills are exactly what we need.
The rest of your post was a pleasure to read.

Hmmm, I seem to remember that at the end of last year we dropped a couple of games.

I remember that last year we beat every side in the eight.

Take it easy fellas, the pies are much more advnces as a flag threat tahn bulldogs, saints cats, etc for two reasons

1. MALTHOUSE

2. A BETTER CULTURE

we were bound to lose one, unfortunately it was against Fitzroy, we were ordinary in that game, and didnt turn up.

Dont lose hope.

Are you satisfied with the result and effort of the game against the lions?

That was our strenght last year, we were able to beat top sites unlike this year.
This year we are lossing to top sites and flogging bad ones

The test for the last four this year was to win 3 of them, I can only see us winning one of them at the moment after our form against quality sides.

We are at $6.00 for the flag, If we lose this week and Essendon win then the Bombers will be at $10 and we will be at $10 as well. As life time rivals, Collingwood has to beat the Dons in Round 22 and I have got faith in them.

Firstly I think that we will oose in Round 2.
Secondly the odds are made up of people like us betting on certain teams, so they mean nothing.

Oh yeah everyone's real satisfied. Moron.

For crying out loud, we lost to one of the best sides of all time, playing at the peak of their powers. We were hit with an onslaught rarely seen before on a footy field. To make matters worse, NOTHING went our way. Tarrant being KO'd by bloody McGough didn't help. It highlighted how inept Molloy is when he's the central focus of our forward line. We had numerous opportunities to score and bring ourselves back into the game, but it just wasn't our day. Conversely, those bastards couldn't miss. Everything and anything that they threw onto their boot went straight through. From the shots they had in the first you'd be unlucky if four of them went through. To have all 8 go right through the middle shows just how unlucky we were. 4.4 to 1.0 at quarter time and it's still game on. Rocca's kick goes to Cole instead of bouncing at right angles sits up and he drills it, Pebbles kicks one of his, Brodie makes the distance from 40, and we're right in there. It just wasn't our day.

It highlighted some of our weaknesses, but many of those can be put down to having youngsters playing vital roles. Josh will only get better in the ruck, as much as i don't like Clokey, he'll get better down back, and our midfield had an off-day. No need to pull out the daggers. Everyone overreacts to a loss, but remember, even though we played duds in the previous six weeks, not too many other teams have been able to put them away like we did. We must be doing something right...

It's called Sarcasm
You think I was happy how often do you see martin Pinke kick a ****ing 40 Snap on his oposite foot and Caracella dribling through a rediculous Goal!!!
And what about that 50 against bucks!!!
