Come on, seriously, he has been top 50 for the last couple years in not only Mike Sheahan's Top 50, but also my Top 50.

I was looking at some stats and realised that Anthony Rocca would have to be certainly overrated as a goalkicker.

Don't get me wrong, If he is in the side the Pies will win, but his career is not that good.

It is about time Anthony Rocca actually stepped up and kicked 50 goals in a season consistantly.

Anthony Rocca's career Statistics

Sydney (22 games, 11 goals)
Collingwood (156 games, 266 goals)

TOTAL (178 games, 277 goals @ 1.56)

Season by Season

1995- SYD - 12 Games, 8 Goals, 39 Marks
1996- SYD - 10 Games, 3 Goals, 26 Marks
1997- COL - 21 Games, 34 Goals, 83 Marks
1998- COL - 13 Games, 19 Goals, 52 Marks
1999- COL - 22 Games, 30 Goals, 118 Marks
2000- COL - 20 Games, 33 Goals, 122 Marks
2001- COL - 20 Games, 42 Goals, 104 Marks
2002- COL - 24 Games, 38 Goals, 126 Marks
2003- COL - 24 Games, 45 Goals, 135 Marks
2004- COL - 13 Games, 26 Goals, 69 Marks

TOTAL - (178 Games, 277 Goals, 874 Marks @ 4.9)

We Need Anthony Rocca to be more of a Goal Kicker.

we need more from him full stop. whatever the reason may be, an an important player to the club he aint pulling his weight.

time he stepped up and started performing adequately, and actually provided a legitimate target up forward.

It's not just Rocca, we need more from some other players in the team. Our forward line in general needs to stand up and start kicking some more goals.

Seriously, i still love Big Sav. Don't know why we got rid of him, he was always better than his brother. This year just proves it.

He was injured remember. If he dosen't show form by round 19, Mick should rest him (Operation if needed) and play the young talls like Billy Morrinson and such.

I'd suggest Rocca's stats have been skewed for the following reasons:-

a) Collingwood was a struggling team in the mid to late 90's

b) Despite the improvement in the last few years, Collingwood rarely is direct and prefers to go the long way home making it tougher for the forwards to find space.

This gameplan is restricting all our forwards. Any thoughts?

exactly, I am not sure I have wrote it on this board, but I have been saying it for a long time.

He can quite easily have a career like Daniel Bradshaw. Goalkicking ratio that is.

Anthony Rocca really does need to fire up, but will never be better than the big man himself, Saverio Rocca.

Well all we can do is hope that oneday he steps up and can show us that he was the right brother to keep :S

sometimes i think mick should drop clokey, put anthony as a spare man in defence and have him in there taking marks in the backline and then booming it in the the foward line quickley where leo, didak and co can run on to it off the the half-forward line and put instant pressure on the opposition backline.

Seriously though, this year Rocca has run under the ball so many times. It almost seems like hes marking power has deserted him.
