I am going to get my head shot of for this but....

Th next few months will be the most important in Freo's short history. We need to turnover another 8 or so players this year. We desperatley need quality mids and kpp. IMO would try and get as much for Sandi and get as much from this draft as possible. Try and get 2 first round picks or a first round plus a couple of quaity mids like Bateman. That way we can get Moribito + another top young mid and a really good KPP prospect.

Next year will be another writeoff in terms of finals so we have to build for the long. If we lose Sandi it will not make a lot of difference in the near term. We still lose with him dominating. MJ can do the ruckwork supported by Clarke.

Comments please.

Dont disagree, if the trade is right then we should look at it. I hope we keep him but we look a few years off from being a contender. As dominant as he is, we still getting murdered out of the middle.

Although I see where you're coming from and the idea of say two quality mids is alluring. Especially in our current situation. Trading Sandi is basically giving up Pav as well, as I see no short term success without one of those two. Don't forget the force that Sandi can be in our team. He's very influential most games.

Instead, I'd look at our new recruit for 2010 - Rhys Palmer and more experience in our future midfielders (Hill, Suban) and less make shift mids (Mundy). We've actually been doing okay in the clearances this year. So I'd keep Sandi. It'll also be better for Clarke not having to be our #1 ruck when weighing in at about 50kgs.

You know trading arguably your best player who in all probability has another 5-6 seasons left in a nortoriously hard position to fill - really is not a good idea.

If we can keep our heads and continue to go forward - both Sandi and Pavlich will be valuable to this team.

We just need to keep going with the process.

Trading him is certainly a more appealing option than squandering $1m per annum. This will be a good test of our new supremo's acumen.

One speculative story by some journo and this starts to gather pace....

What is he worth ??? What is acceptable ??

My stance : I woundn't trade him ... We don't have any decent ruckman to fill the spot.... Just NO

All depends where the big man sits...

if he wants to stay at Freo - all well & good

if he doesn't, better option is to trade this year & not next, as he could end up at Gold Coast on 1.5 mill a year & we could get buggerall for him.

If the rumblings from the east are true re hawthorn....what about

SANDILANDS for ROUGHEAD + their 1st round pick

Agree. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Trading Sandi is silly, cos it takes years for ruckmen to develop into good players. Clarke is still a couple of years off becoming our number one ruck option.

Pavlich, would be the only one I'd let go, but only if we got fantastic players in return.

Crazy stuff.

The difference between us being completely uncompetitive and not is Sandi and Pav.

And in any case, Sandi has 5 or 6 years in him left. Well within the timeframe we would target for a tilt at a flag.

Totally agree

BUT

if his intentions are not with Fremantle then we must be proactive prior to Gold Coast

Forget about the dumb arses on the field, this board is full of them. You all suffer short term memory loss, last week it was the start of our rise to glory, this week its panic and doom and trade our best players.
Please, give all sensible supporters a break and stfu

We should not EVER consider trading Sandilands.

Now Mundy on the other hand.

If we could score a 3rd and 4th rounder for Mundy I'd be happy. Seeing as we will be dumping so many we need the picks!

+1. If it's not Pav it's Sandilands

Anyone suggesting or even thinking that we would consider trading Sandi, or worse thinks that Sandi might even consider leaving a club that picked him up as a rookie and gave him a shot a the big time when no-one else dared to, has got shit for brains and may as well jump off now and hope the door doesn't slam them on the arse on the way out.

Because you, as a supporter, are not in the best interests of the club.

Your idea has merit Gerbil but won't happen.

Trading Sandi would increase the likelyhood of us finishing bottom 4 in 2010 and if we finish at the foot of the table again next year there will be several people at the club looking for a new job.

do you honestly expect us to be anything other than bottom 4 next year? yeah if we get zero injuries, and the stars line up we may win 8-10 games next year, but the fact is, is that we WILL get injuries, players WILL underperform, our side will be predominantly 1st-3rd year players, unfortunately i think anyone who thinks we are going to be anything other than bottom 4 is deluding him/herself

I agree, it would be unbelievably hard to swallow if we were to trade sandi..... however, if sandilands asks to be traded, and says that he will leave next year anyhow, well then i think we would have to trade him, as the last thing we need is for GC17 to get their filthy hands on him and the afl to say that he is only worth a 2nd rounder... so i guess it is all going to depend on what position sandilands puts us in... i personally think he will want to be a one club player and play over 200 games for us
