9 elimiation finals.... now thats being silly... Players and coaches were telling us they were never talking finals.

A loss in any of those games would have meant no finals so in a way they were elimination finals, players and coaches can say what they want don't try and tell me the pressure wouldn't have built through that period, it's a lot different than had we been comfortably in the 8 and then went on a 9 game streak.

Your right, but f you want to win flags the players themselves should pretty much know what is required, look at Hawthorn, they lose a coach and just carry on as normal.

I don't recall who went on the trip but I'm sure there would have been conditioning people still around, coaching has changed a lot since Tommy was running the show.

It is simply RIO was mentioned in the context, that somehow the "apparent" lack of leadership at the club was highlighted via the RIO trip. Now you are really stretching to use the term "caught you in bullshit" but by judging by your posting, deleting of posts, and over all never wrong attitude, im not surprised

As I dont agree with that assumption as I believe that's a extreme long bow to draw, I highlighted that by doing the same. I am surprised you missed it kozi01. The Chinese do it all the time. For example, a old revered Chinese saying, which is apt for you I think is simply "the small dog has the loudest bark"

What killed us was not I believe because of ONLY the coach. The coaching group have a lot of accountability in why we played so below our standard we have shown we can play. Thats the thing mate. Dimma side have proven a level of ability in the past 24 months to beat the best sides, thats why last year, particularly the start of the year was so frustrating. The EF was a shocker, obviously we still carry some serious mental barriers, thats why i believe this year will show a lot about our club and in particular the coaching group.

Agree with that. Just on the loose man .. When it's a gale the team with the wind get far too much of advantage from their loose man in defence.. especially Port who run and attack from defence.
I never felt we had a realistic chance against Port. Still no need to lay it on a plate for them. Hinkley would not have believed his luck when we kicked into the wind and then let him have a free man in defence. You have too make it a bit tricky for the opposition coach.
As for scars I don't think that will be a problem. Just finish top 4 and have a realistic tilt at a premiership.

Oh agree with you brother. See Hardwick knows how to coach against Port, has had great success against them as well as Hinkley I might add. That is why, our inept showing was so bothersome. It just highlighted to me that our group, for whatever reason is still not mentally ready.
