31. Jackson Sheringham (Fremantle) – Quick wingman or rover who is not shy of carrying the ball and taking people on. Overlooked last year despite showing some good signs. Fremantle need pace and guys who can carry the ball. Sheringham is similar to Schammer and could combine well with him as a roving combination. Freo, more than most clubs, is willing to take on the under-180cm rovers which might help Sheringham.

JFYI Weaver,CC and Smart have both said that they will be changing policy this year and wont be drafting any small mids as we have to many

with the picks we have we may have no choice though

great read

But isn't that time from last year's draft camp? I don't think he tested anything like that well this year.

Sellar ran 3.09 at draft camp this year. Has not kept his pace as he has added kilos.

For those saying Reid couldn't possibly go that late, I refer you to last year when people were sure Lucy would go top 20.

Great effort Weaver. Really appreciate the effort you have put in, and as always yours is original.

Good work as per usual but from Adelaide's perspective you have got the needs all wrong.

We are in desperate need of KPPs. Craig and our recruting manager have come out and said we will be looking at KPP and with 5 vacancies on the list I would suspect at least 3 of those picks will go on KPPs.

You have us picking up 4 midfielders and 1 tall. Thats just WAY WAY unbalanced and out of whack AND against what the AFC want to get out of this draft.
He's got us taking 2 KPP, 2 wingman/flankers (outside types) and 1 centreman. Seems ok. Craig will certainly look at outside flankers and runners and utilitites... we love them...

It certainly is an interesting read and its good to see some variety of opinion rather than just regurg.

On the Brisbane front there is certainly a chance on all of your picks hapening and if we got Jetta and Djerrkura at those picks I would be very happy. I do think however they will take a key position defender with one of their picks. If M Brown or Grose are there in the later rounds I think they will get a big look by the Lions.

How so?

Gibbs, Collard and Sheldon will shore up our future midfield prospects which are currently sadly lacking, and Brown will give us another defensive option for the future.

Gibbs-very happy with

Collard-happy, but I doubt he will fall this far. O'Brien would be next option.

Brown-happy, but I don't think we will take him.

There is no way the Sheldon's will go then. We will not take them due to their names. Better options available.

We will not take Reid. No way.

gandaal, we need a ruckman, whether we take one with 19, 35, 51 or 67, it doesn't matter, but we need one.

I would much prefer our selections to be:

1)Gibbs
17)O'Brien
19)Tippett/Renouf/Brown
35) Houlihan
51) Ruckman if we choose Brown at 17. Currie possibly.

Team needs adressed as well as getting good players.

yeah jetta and djerrkura wpuld be great brisbane need a bit of quickness and they would certainly fill those possisions :D and yeah they will defitnetly get another key defender

Yes we need a ruckman. Unfortunately there are none available past Luenburger. Usually in each draft a decent ruckman is available in the second/third round. This year that is not the case. We'd have to be complete idiots if we started recruiting for one particular need when the players available to fill that need are of highly questionable quality and we have so many needs to fill.

And your upset with the rest of the selections not because you don't like the players but because you don't think they'll be there?

So Leuenberger is the only ruckman worth drafting? Are you serious?

I am not upset because I don't think they will be there, in fact, I am not upset at all. I just think that there are better available at those picks, and we do not need Reid.

61. Bachar Houli (St Kilda) – Solidly built midfielder who has great hands and is good in traffic. Has had a never-ending series of injuries that must be a huge concern. Also very solidly built from a young age which helped him thrive against more lightly built opponents. Huge kick for a guy his size. Can be a bit lazy defensively and tends to let his man see plenty of the footy, some pretty ordinary players have beaten him one on one

You have to be joking, when was the last time you actually saw him play. Best player in Australia at U/16 level and could have been playing in the AFL two years ago.

He has a perfect build to play AFL (no way solidly built) and if you looked at his draft results you would see he is in the top 10 in the endurance run and up there in the sprints.

I would be absolutely amazed if he is not top 20 and there is a very good chance he will be top 10.

But, have you even seen them play 'Geelong Crazy26'??

yes i have seen jetta, selwood, james sellar, mitch thorp, jack riewoldt all play. except selwood who was injured they all had top under 18 carnivals ( will excuse sellar concidering he was sick and won the under 16's best player award)

their is no way geelong will turn down a fast midfielder like jetta or a tall key position player like riewoldt mitch thorp or sellar for daniel connor. way of the mark their

7. Daniel Connors (Geelong). Connors has the appeal of being able to play both inside and outside. In close he has quick reflexes, vision and awareness to thread handballs through gaps only he sees. Outside he can tuck the pill under his arm, carry and kick with penetration and accuracy. Also has a handy high-mark in his locker. Not completely dissimilar to Heath Black and should be a solid third / fourth best midfielder in the AFL for 150 games. Ordering the midfielders is always tough but Connors should be one of the first to go.

25. Rhyce Prismall (Geelong) – Outside forward flanker who made the Metro squad as a bottom ager and shows class and skill. Needs to bulk up and become more physical and win more of his own footy. But at 18 months younger than many of the other draft candidates that is not such a surprise. His brother is already down at the Cattery so expect Geelong to have a close eye on him.

57. Jason Davenport (Geelong) – Won the equivalent of the Rising Star award in the VFL. A tallish, super-speedy wingman or half-back. Carries the ball, kicks long. Needs to bulk up, improve his stamina and polish the kicking. That said for a late starter in the game he has come on rapidly. Loves a goal off the wing. Perhaps a rookie listing. Cats should take him after his solid VFL form.

Wouldn't be happy witht those first 2 picks, if Thorp was pick 8.

I don't think Connors is a bad player from what I've seen and heard, but would prefer Thorp.

If Djerrkurra is around at 25, I'd hope we take him.

I like Davenport at 57, but would prefer Schofield, Houli or Nick Smith.

I'm sick of all the 'sheep' in here accusing this mock draft to be a bad one. Not only is this mock draft easily the best available, it actually has evidence to back up selections made. Although some selections are risky one's, there is every bit of eveidence to back up the decisions. For once the norm has not been followed and unsurprisingly this mock draft is fairly close to the real deal. Glad to see Dean Kelly without a spot and agree with Sellar, Reid, Jetta and Riewoldt.
Fantastic read and keep up great work!!

Good job Weaver, hope all these criticisms from people who haven't seen nearly as much of the kids as you are sliding off like water off a duck. I agree with the more knowledgeable posters in this thread, that there will be a few surprises which you have picked up on and will get right, some you won't but that is the nature of the game. I think some of the richmond, carlton and geelong supporters who are knocking you have not seen nearly enough of these kids, and are basing their judgments on a handful of games (or probably one champs game).

Good to see Schofield recognised. Hardly been mentioned yet was very high in all of the tests at draft camp, both endurance and speed. For someone over 195cm in height he dislpays great athleticsm in the air and on the ground.
Good to see you not just picking the most well known players, but the ones who may well be picked up

Cheers Weaver.

The picks you have nominated for our beloved Tiges seem, with the exception of Schofield (can't stop thinking of Prison Break when I hear/see his name) appear flankers, non-KPPs. Am I correct and would you think this fits with Richmond's recruiting requirements at the moment? I would have thought we would have sought another 1-2 players to occupy key forward or defensive posts.

Thanks again...

3. Scott Gumbleton (Kangaroos). With Hale, McIntosh and Moran the Roos are unlikely to take Leuenberger. Aside from that they pretty much need everything. Gumbleton is the kind you can build a forward line around. Tall, athletic, covers a lot of ground, has a good leap. Will muscle out into a very solid player in time. Shapes as a genuine CHF in the Nick Reiwoldt mould. Isn’t shy of the contest as a couple of the recent early-round bigmen have been.

21. Mark Austin (Kangaroos) – Prospective CHB who has impressed at under-16 level, tested well in camp, and is showing impressive development for a bottom age player. Will be amongst the first key position players taken. If the Roos take the CHF Gumbleton early they will be in a good position to lock up the two key position spots. If they take CHB Hansen they may have to reach for Tippett as a FF option.

37. Nathan Krakouer (Kangaroos) – Small lightly-framed speedster who is a cousin to the famous family. Tends to play as a small forward or as a winger who stays away from traffic. Impressive draft camp results might catch the eye of clubs looking for a guy with pure speed who can kick goals. Those impressive sprint times from camp might suffer when if he adds the extra 15kg in bulk he will need for AFL duty.

53. Todd Pfeiffer (Kangaroos)
– Was rated highly coming into the season but had a poor year and was anonymous at the Championships. May have fallen completely out of calculations but his running and kicking ability should save him. Also managed to force his way into the SANFL seniors and show a little bit of promise. Crows might take him at 48, very much their type of running player.

69. Coalan Buckley (Kangaroos) – Winger with a bit of toe, although a bit selfish and a poor kicking action. Gets the ball and can snag a goal. Probably not tidy enough by foot to attract too many fans come draft day.

71. Tas Clingan (Kangaroos) - Only really showed his talent in the finals campaign, which probably translates to rookie consideration at best. Thrived on the HBF where he could run at the contests, fly for spoils, swoop on crumbs and run and bounce. Turns defence into attack with good pace and long kicking.

Good job Weaver.

Wouldnt be overly ecstatic with this if it came to fruition. Gumbleton would be awesome, but other than that, i think Austin is a major reach, and if Jetta was there we would definately snap him up, he is exactly what we need, fast and silky skills.

We need quick midfielders with good skills way more than we need KPP, other than CHF whom we will get with Pick 3.

from a geelong point of view those picks are **** house... i would much prefere to pick up joel selwood, leroy jetta, mitch thorp, jack riewoldt, james sellar then Daniel Connors who doesnt sound like much at all or the sort of player we need
So the Cats don't need a line breaking runner who can mark, play inside and outside and been likened to Dal Santo?

Do the Cats have any players like that?

Remember you're getting a gun forward in Hawkins cheaply and you can afford to take a quick inside midfielder early.

Unless you're happy with Tenace.

Who predicted Thomas to be drafted at two last year?

It's a great phantom draft until Carlton draft the Sheldons because I hope we convince Sam to nominate for next year's draft.

I doubt Sydney will go for someone such as Renouf if your summary is correct. We just delisted 2 young ruckmen, Chambers retired and we recruited an All Australian ruckman. Unless they reckon they have an absolute gem of a smokey ruckman in their sites I would expect them to go for a KPP at either end of the ground. We have 5 picks so it could be 4 in the first draft and 1 in the PSD.

They picked up Chambers last year who had an aversion to kicking on the rare occasions he got the footy, so I doubt we will fall for that again.

Added Kilos? Lost Pace? 6 months ago he weighed 94 Kilos and ran a 2.96. He now weighs 90 kilos and has not put the weight he lost back on...

But atleast u had a go...
