That's the spirit! I am heading into the 2026 as a glass-half-full gal. Minimal expectations but hoping the days will be far better than 2025!
100%. Gonna take a bit to rewire my brain from the gaslighting era but I’m very optimistic and bullish about our future under Josh Carr and his coaches. Can’t wait.

Trading pick 29 for next year 41 is a stupid deal from Port . It also comes with a spud forward and we miss it on Glenelg forward Pickett who can be future star . Absolute robbery by Carlton .
Port essentially gave up pick 67 in a shit draft to get Durdin. Got a second rounder in a better draft where we will need points to get Cochrane. I'd admit I didn't want Durdin as he is another spud small forward (Ports seem to love them recent years, especially sharing them with Carlton). Pick 67..... meh

Nobody should be losing sleep over this trade. Initially the reports were saying that Port was going to use pick 29 in this trade to get Durdin. The report did lack the full story but I would've torn my membership up if that was the case.

Immediately becomes our best tackler in the team after Butters
Has good disposals
Nuggety and strongly built
Has good speed and agility
Likes going for high marks
Has personality, clearly fellow players love him
Totally an upgrade on those we cut

IMO he is the type of player that Carr would like to mould.

Great trade IMO, as we need to get some experienced depth in. He will certainly challenge for a spot I reckon. Welcome aboard, and good luck.

How do you get 41 for next year??

18 + 18 = 36 and so far this year, there has been 6 compo picks but only 4 before Brisbane's 2nd pick + the priority pick for WCE ( which there is no indication will be there next year), so Brisbane's 2nd pick is at 41.

Are you expecting Carlton to win the flag or make the GF?

Don't say matching bids will add picks, because they also eliminate picks, and 2025 rule changes mean you will need higher picks to match a bid, and next year the rules will change again as indicated by Rob Auld and reported by Cal Twomey that you will have to give up picks closer to the pick where any player is bid for re Academy, NGA and Father-Son players.

If Carlton lose Curnow, I expect Carlton's 2025 pick to be in the 26 to 32 range after compo picks are handed out. That pick will generate handy points to get Dougie.

Well, I’m a bit seduced now. Have watched the extended highlights videos of his 2022, 23, 24, 25 seasons and a couple of his better 2025 games. Positive selection bias is obviously off-the-charts with highlights videos, but what he can do on a footy field is quite exceptional and he obviously can pull off these great plays regularly enough in a year to fill 9 minutes.

There’s no way McEntee would fill 45 sec at a comparable level.

Cleanness below his knees, quick hands, evasiveness (eg baulking), footy IQ, neat passing through congestion, tackling of bigger bodies, finishing around goal, leading, even contested marking. All on display and with more than a bit of x-factor.

The issue is why he doesn’t get more of the ball. Even going back to his draft years in the SANFL reserves / U18 and National U18 Carnival, he was statistically underwhelming.

Would love to think he could carve out a 1-1.5 goal / 10-12 disposal / 2-3 tackle per game career with us. Maybe that’s unrealistic but it’s what we’re in need of.

An underperforming “high pressure” small forward?
Welcome back Mac n Cheese 😍

But in all seriousness the pick swap looks good, I reckon we got a steal here.

I get what Jimmy said about being seduced by highlights packages but as PJ Power has alluded to, his best looks exceptional. Way above the level of McEntee, FEvans and Narkle for example.

High marking, ruthless tackling, clean hands and disposal, pace and footy smarts. It's all on show. Going way back, he reminds of South Adelaide rover Wayne Slattery, similar nuggety build, footy smarts and could take a jack in the box mark.

This is the season green shoots spring anew, so I'm hoping for a successful homecoming for Corey. Bit of midfield time would help with getting him into games too.

It’s funny, but I’m 99% sure he’s a troll account.

47 premierships in his bio is a dead giveaway.
He’s either a troll or the bloke who runs the SA footballer on Facebook. Both are funny for different reasons.

He has a Butters like energy when he gets the ball which I like, good for team morale.

Plus new wife and being close to his family and friends may improve him as well.

I dont think anyone should be under the illusion this isnt totally speculative. I do however fully support churning over the guys we simply know don't have it, and bringing in people we think are worth a punt for whatever reason. Keep turning over and you'll find a gem. Could also find nothing but poo, but atleast you are constantly turning over and taking chances as opposed to banging your head against the 13 year wall of stale Hinkley.
