Our boys are a damn sight better than what they showed last night too , thats only 1 game , 21 to go and they wont all be piss weak like that either .

Is it just me or would we have been better off with Wiggo in the side as opposed to Hartlett.

I lost all respect for him last night. That hit was a disgrace, nothing more nothing less. He did no team things and frankly looked out of place in AFL.

Maybe Wiggo isn't a class act, but no one can doubt he would have done all the team things, and done his job.

Gee I hope Wiggo gets another chance, because if we are in for another season like last year atleast put players on the field that will give 100%.

And for once I have to agree with the opposition. UNDER DONE???? Thats just a cop out for losing. Judd has said he won't be in full gear for a few weeks. AT ROUND ONE WHOEVER IS? Sounds like we are making excuses before we even lose.

Yeh, because performances in Round 1 are a determinant of the year ahead. We won 2 of our first 3 games last season, as well as the NAB Cup & we were found wanting in the second half of the season.

Terry Wallace stated after last night's game that the Richmond pre-season was based around being ready for Round 1. That is fair enough, because he needs early wins to stave off any pressure to keep his job. On the other hand we need to get the balance right to ensure we don't fall away as the season gets older. 6-8 wins is achievable particularly knowing that in 4-5 weeks time, Judd, Stevens, Fev, Hadley, among others, will be reaching peak fitness.

Enjoy your time in the sun, but the home & away season is 22 weeks long. A swallow doesn't make a summer.

Pffiefer could have debuted too over Hartlett/Bannister.

Our rucks were extremely underdone too. No Hampson, Kruezer, hAckland.
No Walker, Fisher etc.

I have been absolutely furious for years about our recruiting & development of players!!!

Now look at our top draft picks we have got over the years (Kreuzer will be left out, as he hasnt played yet!)

All the players are going to be good players, but no way are they a top 2 draft pick!!

Murphy- Comes close, but would much rather pendelbury or Thomas from that draft!

Kennedy- Although he is gone Pendlebury or Thomas would have been better option!

Gibbs- Joel Selwood is so much better its not funny, Gibbs moves well, but is as soft as butter..

Walker, certainly not worthy of a top ten pick!! wrong decision again!!

Although these players will be good & very servicable, a waste of a top draft picks!

MOST other picks we have had has been very disappointing to say the least.. Giggs, Harlett, Bower, Jackson, Betts, Jamieson etcc are not league footballers..

Look at our arch rivals & as much as it pains me to say this, they are so much better in evry department, especially recruiting & Development!

Clarke (Rookie), Obrien (Rookie), Maxwell (Rookie), Goldsack (pick 68), Lockyer (Rookie), Swan (pick 54), Johnson (pick 72).. Al these players play regular finlas & have made an immediate impact... All are integeral part of the scums team!!

There ealry picks have also been spot on. All said Xavier Ellis was worth pick 2 & they went for thomas..insipired choice.. Then pendelbury was a pick 5 was also a surpirise but what a greta choice!! We get murphy & Kennedy & they are nowhere near to the level of those too!

Didak, Brown & Ried are all top 10 picks and all look the goods!!

Tarrant played up & was traded rightly so.. Fev has also many times & is still here!!!

We have alot of work to do as a club & we can get all the number one draft picks we like but that means NOTHING!!!

That would be best for all concerned, but if some Carlton supporters find their way on to the Essendon board & break the posting rules, I have no doubt the moderators will, rightly so, dish out the appropriate penalty.

I don't really understand why posters want to visit opposition club boards with the view to trolling because it is a guarantee of being penalised. By all means posters can visit opposition boards to participate in rational discussion, but they shouldn't complain when they receive infractions for breaking the rules.

Judd wasn't recruited to the club to win us Round 1 of the 2008 season, he was recruited as a class player around which we can build our group of talented young players and they can learn from one of the game's best. A player who will be at the club in 2-3 years time when Murphy, Gibbs, Walker, Kreuzer, Edwards, Bower etc are reaching the best football years of their career.

The value of Judd's recruitment will not be realised overnight, it will come to fruition in 2-3 year's time, when he will still only be in his mid 20s. Anyone that chooses to assess Judd's value to our club after just one game in the 2008 season, is missing the whole point of why he was recruited.

Well considering your mob have been mouthing off constantly on the Richmond boards for months its hardly suprising that you might get a few comments after losing last night. At least the Richmond mods have a sense of humour when Parrot and co come across talking up Carltons amazing list!.

Normally I do a new post search then look at thread titles rather than looking at which board it is in, the only time I go to the bigfooty frontpage is if a thread I sometimes visit isn't on the frontpage.
