Western Derby Ticketing

Boy is the club trying to cash in with this game. $105 for a cat 2 ticket! For a reduced length game....

I hope they drop the prices for the rest of our games or the ground is going to look pretty barren

They will be hoping that the Wet Toast fans cough up, which could be a danger as the Toast may have more fans there than Freo

Dockers Still Count On Capacity Derby Crowd

MITCHELL WOODCOCK

Fremantle remain optimistic they will host 60,000 fans at Optus Stadium for the 51st western derby, despite the WA Government indicating yesterday that number could be cut in half. The July 19 game between the Dockers and West Coast was set to be marked by the return of a capacity crowd to the Burswood venue, with phase five of the easing social restrictions planned to come into effect the previous day. But the ability to host a full house was thrown into question yesterday when Premier Mark McGowan announced there would be a review of the phase five timing following the spike in coronavirus cases in Victoria, where 127 new cases were reported. Despite the review, Dockers members were still able to buy tickets yesterday during their priority pre-sale window for the club’s first game of the year on home soil. Eagles members are able to access their allocated pre-sale tickets from 9am today. General public seats, which are limited to six per person, go on sale from 9am tomorrow. Fremantle chief executive Simon Garlick said at this stage the ticket sales would continue as planned until they were advised of the outcome of the review. “The Premier had previously indicated the phase-five restrictions were subject to ongoing review in the lead-up to the planned introduction on July 18,” he said. “Throughout the pandemic, our ongoing and critical priority has and will continue to be the health and well-being of our people, including that of our players, staff, volunteers, members , supporters and the wider community. “The last instance of community transmission in WA was 86 days ago and, in announcing the review of the timing of phase-five restrictions today, the Premier noted that there was no evidence of community spread in WA, which provides us with a level of optimism about the likely outcome of the review.” Eagles coach Adam Simpson would not comment on the issue last night, saying his focus remained on this weekend’s game against Adelaide, who he described as “really competitive” against Fremantle on Sunday. “We are just not thinking that far ahead,” Simpson told 7NEWS. “We’re thinking about Adelaide . We’ve been doing a bit of opposition scouting today. “We’ll worry about all that stuff next week.” West Coast declined to comment when contacted by The West Australian.

I don't think Victorian cases have anything to do with WA.

Of course the spike in Victoria does , shows how easy it can all come tumbling down with one wrong move.
It's not hard to see 60000 people in loaded bus and train getting to and from the ground with 60000 seated on top of each other in the stadium could be a disaster.

It's very hard to see a virus spontaneously appearing in an area or group of people where it isn't.

We could have a half a million people in a kissing festival and nobody would catch it.

Isn't that exactly what happened, the virus just appeared in an area .
Anyone of the returning could be a carrier, the quarantine period seems to be all over the place. Those testing positive then being cleared after quarantine then have the virus returning. Surely vigilance is the go.
I know fans are disappointed that the game might not be full house but it is only a game.

No, that isn't what happened. The guards at their hotel quarantine took people to food courts and had sex with them, then went and worked their jobs at other hotels and driving uber around.

If our hotel quarantine is secure then we don't need to be locked down behind that safety wall.

We have not had a single community transmission in WA in 86 days. I don't care if we have a crowd at the derby or not, but we are definitely not Victoria.

It's just Murphys Law. We all share the same land mass and a spike in Vic cases in indirect ways puts us more at risk than foreign arrivals.

The escalation in Vic is worrying, really need to get it back under control. Next 4-6 weeks is critical.

I'd be happy with 30k capacity for the duration of the hub over one 60k game and then zero fans for the remainder.

Quarantine is not infallible, there are cases were the quarantined person has been cleared and returned to his home and come down with the virus. There is a case at this very minute in NSW that has the health dept scrambling to find his contacts.
It's nice to think it's all over here but it's not, as Dr Swan said expect the unexpected, expect a second wave.
