Aliens: Dark Descent - 8 hours in and I reckon this arguably equals, if not betters, the atmosphere and tension of Isolation. Definitely way more punishing. Excellent tactical stealth game, though.

Slay The Spire - FINALLY got to A20 on Ironclad. Took me 123 games to get there. Now let's see how long it takes me to finish the game - I'm guessing at least that many again haha.
That gap from A19 to A20 feels huge at times.

I'm now got 42 of 46 trophies and I just can't seem to beat a boss on turn one as it just needs so much to go right.

I think I looked up some guides to help. A20 was definitely a slog.

Got all the Trophies though in the end. Such a great game, I have put so many hours into it and even now and then get sucked back in doing dailies. I can't wait for Slay the Spire 2 to drop this year (hopefully).

Heretic and Hexen were both great back in the day!!

Both have just dropped for the Switch/Switch 2.

Downloading them now, something to entertain me tonight aside from Essingtin getting walloped lol

Continuing my retro FPS run with Heretic.

Had only ever played through the shareware version way back when. I play through Doom and Quake at last once a year and thought I'd mix things up a bit. Have owned it for years. Up to the fourth episode (out of five) and enjoying it. Big spike in difficulty going from the third to fourth episodes!

Using GZDoom. Will play through Hexen next.

Now that Heretic and Hexen have copped the same glow up that Doom, Doom 2, Quake and Quake 2 got, I'll have to do back and play them again.

I did start Hexen but stopped pretty early on. They've given me an excuse to try again 😍

Opinion;

Truly great games don't need to be touched up. True gamers don't need games to be touched up.
It's the reason why I love Star Control II to this day.
I also still play Leisure Suit Larry - all originals, without alteration. Likewise Police Quest, Quest for Glory etc.

Graphics are nice and all, but the mechanics of the game are crucial.

In movie terms, would you ever want The Godfather to be 'touched up?' Hell no!
I don't care if the cinematography isn't 'modern.' That's part of the charm.

It's why The Castle will never be re-made.

In contrast, you have Avatar - all graphics with a pissy story.

It's a free upgrade and the original versions are still in your account if that's what you prefer...

Would I prefer The Godfather in 4k vs an old VHS tape? Yes. That's really what this is, making it easier to play old games on modern hardware.

I could play Mac-cricket forever.

Anyone played street fighter 6? Got a mate who reckons it’s top notch on the switch 2 and worth getting.

Mafia The old country

It's an okay game, feels like The Order1886 in a Mafia game - great setting, story and characters but such minimal gameplay but it's decent when you get it.

The repetitive knife fights make it impossible to consider another play through
Is it worth picking up? Granted I have little time to play and more inclined to Ready or Not.

Top Spin 2K25

I've reshaped my players stats so I don't get completely wiped off the court (virtually max power/forehand/backhand while near fu strength in speed/reflexes/stamina... sacrificing serve/volley stats - which is fine as my "game" style doesn't need them). May still need to tinker around as I'm getting blown away by some players.

Dark Souls III

New week - finished it yet again lol. Only 2-3 more cycles to go and I might shelve it. At the stage now where the regular enemies can just about 1 hit kill me (bosses as well, but it's more annoying dying to a regular enemy on the way to the boss lol).

Still moulding my characters stats, going against the grain and instead of new character/new playstyle I'm just building ALL stats so if I want magic I can do so, want sorcery/pyro I can do so - in addition to my strength build. Average game time is steadily dropping (was below 30 hours a while back, boosted it back up to 42... now it's trending back down to 30).

Have also spent time on: Rocket League, Ultra SFIV, MK 11, Marvel v Capcom Collection, TMNT Collection, WWE 2K23/24, Fire Pro Wrestling, Robocop.... throughout the past week.
