I'm sure most of you guys will agree with me that the current squad we are using is not working against oppositon teams. The two main departments that need fixing are the Forward line and the Ruck. We need another tall forward up there with browny, cause lets just face it he's not god. Maybe Clark can make a differance. And Charman has had more than enough time to settle back into his key positions (The Ruck & Tall forward) but has fallied to make a big impact thus far. Cameron Wood or Berger might be options there. Then finally the Backline, the inconsistant brennan. Will he turn into the next White as many of us expect or just a waste of space?

Any thoughts?

You are dicing with danger kiddo........ anyway I think Brennan needs to be dropped to the 2nds until he shows he is in form and I was also thinking Harding should be replaced with either Allen (if Johnno comes back next week) or Moody Even Fixter should be coming back into that side i guess it depends ons thier current form...

How am I 'dicing with danger'?

I'm just asking a simple question of who should be drop and who they should be replaced with.

We need a bit more physical grunt in the centre. A tough solid player who can tie up the ball at centre bounces. Any suggestions from the reserves?

Well with the rucks I dont think we really have alot to chose from I mean Wood would come to mind how far is Leuenberger from recovery from the OP?

I don't know if major changes are required yet. I thought we were always going to struggle against Essendon because when Lloyd was back in, they had one or two more tall key position players that we could not cover. Lloyd, Lucas, Hird, Michael and Fletcher, all quality players. When they got on top of Merrett and Brown they just drove us into the ground as it was hard to implement any plan B when we where still covering these 5 talls.

The Dome is set up for them as well as no wind, no rain means lots of high marking which played into ther hands.

Merrett had a couple of memtns he would rather forget but he is a project long term player and I hope he can get these behind him and move on because next week he could be on big Sav.

Brennan did struggle yeaturday might need a week in the reserves to get a couple of touches. Hope Sherman will be back next week. Perhapas Wood has also earnt a recall to the senior line up.

I thought yesturday was the first time we really missed Bradshaw. I think though we need to keep our structure as it is for a week or two and see what happens. Intresting point made in the commentary yesturday when I had a look at it when I got home. They said Brisbane is a very young side they had a long pre season with the NAB cup it would be about the time that some of these young bodies will start to feel it.

IN | OUT
Clark | Patfull
Clark deserves to play a game, Patfull has had 3 bad games in a row now and I think it's time we let Clark play at FF. Taller, more agile and knows how to play.
Mills | Brennan
Okay, so alot of you don't think much of Mills but in all honesty, he is and will be a better CHB than Brennan will ever be. He mightn't have the attacking edge that Brenan has, but is it more important to stop arguably the most important forward (CHF) from scoring rather than attacking?
Sherman | Allan
Would give us more run and he should be played in a FP or HBF where he seems to play his best footy, tough decision. Also, Allan's size and pace makes him easy to evade.

I think these three changes would be ok, three young guys get a chance in the resrves to get some touch back after a couple of tough weeks. Does anyone think Wood is due for a call up and if so would you play three ruckman or look at resting one of the two current Ruckman. I thought with our lack of height yesturday I wouldn't mind playing 3 ruckman and playing Charman as a forward line player. May be worth a try for something different.

not at the moment, give him a month to get into form then he will be :p

i like patfull in the side he just isnt the 2nd forward (but could be a 3rd).
i think just clark for brennan (through drummo back), and shermo for allan.
I rekon Shermo should have another week or 2 in the 2nds still, they should give schimt (or however you spell it) a go in the midfield in the next few weeks to replace Allan. But i agree with the rest of what you are saying Konstas.

INS
Schmidt - deserves his chance. Has been the 2s most consistant player going by the reports & has been named as an emergency often.
Clark - is a must. Natural forward who has kick bags in his 2 games back. The obvious 'other' forward target, who has a real presence. Might get under the Pies guard.

OUTS
Stiller - injured
Patfull - just not assisting JB enough. Has not maintained his level since the NAB Cup & opening rounds. Has been thrown around a little though.

Other points:
Haven't considered CJ, not sure on his injury position
Allen - just think he deserves another chance in an attempt to gain a spot. The Pies don't have an overally quick midfield so this would be a nice match for him.
Brennan - the knives out again. 2 weeks ago he was 3rd in the votes given on this very site, '2 weeks = long time in footy'. I just wish they would leave him in the back half, will struggle as one that gets thrown around. I hope Lethal is true to his word & leaves the back 6 to develop together.
Sherman - not sure on his game today, have read mixed reports. Quandry being that he has played his best footy of the half back line, where can he create drive forward & use his main asset being pace. Needs to be a little more team orientated at times.

Great stuff Bobby!

This was exactly the choices I was about to post. From all report Schmitt is carving it up so I think we need his run.

So for me: "see above"

OK...let's have Mitch Clark for Patfull, as some have suggested.

Clark seems top be in hot form for Suncoast, so why not?

But you know, whether we play Clark, Patfull or anyone else as a second forward, it will make diddly-squat difference if the ball is not delivered to him now and again.

What I am getting at, is that it wouldn't matter how good a player our "second" tall is if the entire focus is on kicking it to Browny all the time.

Here's a quote from Mal Michael after yesterday's game:

"It's almost too predictable" Michael said (of Brisbane's reliance on Brown)

He could have substituted the word "stupid" as far as I am concerned.

If you think I sound cranky and disillusioned about our present game "plan", you're damned right i am:mad:

The topic is titled "What Changes NEED to be made?"

How about a change in the "just kick to Brown" game plan?

Otherwise Patfull and Clark will be just be swapping places in the Senior side till the cows come home.

I agree luthor, Our over dependance on browny has cost us a few games so far. It cost us the NAB Cup, Rd 4 and Rd 8 so far. As i have said in other post of mine Brown is suffering under the pressure of being the ONLY forward brisbane go to. I have seen many times this & other seasons where our boy have kicked to browny in a contest when there was a forward futher in the 50m arc by them selves who had a better shot at goal. If Clarky is there to support browny and our boys finally realise 'hey Browny ain't gonna kick a bag of 7-8 goals each week' and kick it to the OTHER tall forwards (Clark) we Should win more games. This area of our Plan need to change.....Now!

I agree with everyone we need to plan "around" Browny as opposed to "to" Browny and on the off chance he hasn't got half the free world tagging him then he will prsent himself.

By the sounds of the ressies reports being posted (thanks to all who do that) it defintely sounds like it would be a good time to give Clark no e a run and yup swap him in for Patful.

As for other changes, teach them all the ball it not a hot potato and it also does not carry the bubonic plague and to hang on to it a biot longer rather than tru and pass it off as quickly as possible.

The other thing lacking from our team at the moment is "playing as a team", when was the last time we saw some shepherding allowing a player to run down the ground.
