What Do They Have To Do????

What do the AFC's young brigade have to do to get recognised by the rising star judges???? Seriously who was the last AFC young player to even get nominated???

Radar is the only player I can ever remember being nominated. In recent times anyway.

Its an interesting one. They need to have an absolute blinder, I guess. It does puzzle me why Port players seem to get instant recognition while we seem to not get any at all in this regard. We know how good they are though, and maybe not getting the recognition gives them the chance to develop without the additional pressure of being so highly rated. Maybe its a blessing in disguise.

It doesnt really matter this year anyway. Tom Hawkins has it in the bag already. Even if he didnt play another game, all the Victorians who get to vote have already voted effectively.

Has any eligible AFC player actually played well enough in a game to warrant a nomination recently? A lot of the nominations are based on one outstanding game (e.g. Polo's outburst in his first game) as opposed to a consistently solid (if unspectacular) performance over a number of rounds.

I'd like to know what Rutten has to do to be rated ahead of Glass.
Everyone is on the Glass bandwagon, despite the fact that Rutten conceeds less goals, and gets more of the ball himself.

Not to mention we got Rutten far cheaper :thumbsu:

They continually believe the press and other people's reports that he always has at least 2 or 3 other crows players helping him out at each contest, but if you watched the game last week, I think there was only one contest against BBBB Hall that another adelaide player was involved with.

My favourite part of the game happened right before half time in front of where we sit. Truck ran Hall completely around in a circle and lost him in minimal traffic so that he could mark the ball while we played keepies off - it was brilliant, but of course you don't see that work on the tv.

There is also this perception that Rutten doesn't provide run or linking movement forward (where scarlett apparently excels) and that he is 'lost' when outside the 50m arc - just ask Tredrea if Rutten gets 'lost' out there :D

At the end of the day who gives a stuff what other clubs and media outlets think. Rutten is the best FB in the comp and we have a plethora of great talent coming through the ranks. We don't need 'recognition' from any other ****ers I just want the results on the board!

Very good point,

What Adelaide Crows player has been overlooked and missed out on getting a nomination that deserved one?

We have some good young player coming through this year but none of them have really deserved a nomination.

Aye, fair call.

Griffen has for sure.

Scott Pendelbury from Collingwood got it this week, anyone know his stats????

It's pretty clear that we don't really have much respect for the people whose opinions are annoying us, so ****'em.

Rutten is the best FB in the League; who cares if he gets helped (which is over-stated anyway) by his team-mates? Do people say that Barry Hall is a rubbish Full Forward because he gets good delivery from his midfielders? Or that Judd is a rubbish midfielder because Cox often gives him first use of the ball?

It's crap, so ignore it.

And we know how good our youngsters are, let everyone else blow their stack over the Power and Carlton; I'd rather people under-rated us.

Are you kidding? This kid would be close to winning the award this year. He's ranked up there among eligible rising stars in a whole range of statistical categories.

Of course having played 9 games last year would have helped a fair bit (think he got a nomination last year too).

Scott Pendlebury stats

He was very good.

Generally you need one outstanding game followed by a couple of "goodish" ones.

Problem with this award and Adelaide is that it awards one off brilliance instead of consistancy which is what prevented Stiffy, McGregor or VB ever being nominated. Also Adelaide tends to play it's younger players limited minutes as opposed to cellar dwellers who let their youngsters play all game which has stopped Knights getting nominated and that due to Adelaide's success and good injury record players debut older when they are good and therefore are often ineligible such as Rutten, Porplyzia and Huddo. Also this award always looks to nominate blokes who were top 10 draft picks ahead of blokes picked up later in the draft and of course we don't have too many top 10 picks.

Very overrated award really, this who's going to be better in 5 years stuff is just crap IMHO with the number of variables to be taken into account. We'll find out in 5 years time whether we'd prefer Griffin over Pendlebury or Wood.:thumbsu:

I am reasonably confident that McGregor got a rising star nomination in his first season for his very good game at CHF one day. IIRC he kicked 3 or 4 goals and got the nomination for that game.

My bad it would seem he did, but i feel my original point still stands.
