Opinion What is the plan for North?

North and Crows started their rebuilds at the same time.

Crows received no priority picks, no inflated FA compensation, no hand outs. Yet are now top 4 while North remain bottom 2.

It’s bad management with poor trades, poor drafting and baffling decisions.
Crows also bottomed out in the worst draft in history, the Covid draft.
We took 5 players, four of those were playing last night.

They already play in Tasmania and get no interest. A merger with the proposed devils would compromise the branding of the devils which has been designed as Tasmania's own team. Would be deeply unpopular.
At least it would give Tassie some more mature players to add to their liat from the outset. Combine those with the cream of the draft crop and they will be good quicker.

It makes sense for Tasmania from a list management point of view, but any merger will mean incorporation of the merged clubs identifiers. That's why it wouldn't work.

Crows had how many south Australian born players return to play for them in the last few trade periods? North are significantly disadvantaged when it comes to pulling players over compared to Adelaide. Of course not their only issue, but one of them.

They need to address why they cant attract anyone. Not that long ago Brisbane couldn't keep any young players, and the go home five saga threatened to destroy the club. They changed their culture, their football department and are now a destination club winning finals and set for the next decade.

Not that long ago the Crows couldn't get any of the ex SA players back. We went through a period where it was almost impossible to get them here.
The club changed its culture, changed its football department and now we almost expect that the next generation will come back. Same goes for Port.

It's 100% on North.

Because they have no money....

Lets not lie to ourselves and pretend its some mythical other reason

It's the simple things in a rebuild you can't over look an a simple mistake like this

banch over may
trebath over mcmahon

might seem small it sets the club back another 6 months which they can't afford. Both those players can fill a must need spot in the best 22 atm

New captain needed, the current one is a marc Murphy clone. Best thing Carlton have done in many years was taking the captaincy off little marc and giving it to Cripps.
Wardlaw, clearly n.melbs captain in waiting. Do the right thing simpkin.
Irrelevant window dressing. George Wardlaw wearing a armband instead of someone else isnt generating the extra 10 wins required to make the finals....

Nah.
They have the same access to the salery cap as every other team.
No club can pay their team one dollar more than any other.
They just paid the most money for a coach than any other team.
The AFL gave them 6-7 million extra dividend than the Crows got.
Brisbane has more revenue and twice the AFL dividend than Adelaide does.
Theres a point you are missing.
When clubs are successful on field, they earn more money off field, such as memberships, sponsorships and merchandise.

None of that is true at all.

It fails even the basics of logical thought. I mean You think Harley Reid would earn the same money off field at North as he would at Eagles?

Turn it up

The crows have largely done a good job with their list.

Drafted pretty well.
Picked up discarded players who are playing important roles, eg Keays and hinge
Brought in talent

North has mucked up that many picks. Brought in spud players and can’t attract any genuine talent. Oh and they also lose the decent talent they have to other teams.

They’ve spent 6 seasons building their midfield and it sucks.

Fair points.

Tough call.

3rd team in WA?
Nah mate, been saying it a few times now: move the Roos to Canberra.

Canberra Kangaroos, they get the best Riverina/ACT players, and it allows the Giants to become a full time Sydney team.

WA won’t support a Vic side.

NT for team 20 with megabucks going into it. They deserve their own team, like Tassie.

They keep saying NT completes the jigsaw puzzle but it’s missing ACT which is far more viable, ironically.

If clubs like suns and giants can do it, there's no excuses for anyone.

Makes perfect sense. :thumbsu:

Unfortunately AFL make decisions based on $$$$ and $$$$$ alone.

If their bonuses aren't going up they don't give a rats.

Wardlaw leads by example, he screams captaincy. simpkin, about as inspiring as fairy floss.

Are the Suns and Giants competiting with home town clubs like Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn, Richmond, Geelong and all the cheap land down there?

Suns and Giants raking in gun academy kids every year on the cheap and players like getting out of the spotlight in Qld and NSW.

North cannot complete against those clubs for gun trades.

If you had a choice where would you ask to be traded to?
