That's a good idea. Maybe via some kind of 'social distancing', not gathering in large groups, only going out for the essentials, that sort of thing. These outbreaks can be managed ,
You could social distance in the ground. But the issue(s) could be Entry, 30K people turning up 30 minutes before the game. Public toilets, especially for women. There is always a percentage of people who don't adhere to the rules and do the right thing. Crows players are proof of that. I'd gladly throw on a mask and gloves to see the Tiges have another crack at a flag. I'd pay heavily to see another GF. IF 10% crowd capacity was allowed for finals can you imagine the shitfight to get a ticket to the GF?I accept your point and I get a sense the sentiment against crowds is that strong that they’re unlikely this year at all for any sport ,,,I just cant believe that they couldn’t still manage the risk with a limited crowd say somewhere between 25-50% capacity

There are measles outbreaks too but we don’t stop the world waiting for the next one do we , and quit being a smart arse, doesnt suit youThat's a good idea. Maybe via some kind of 'social distancing', not gathering in large groups, only going out for the essentials, that sort of thing.
Agree with you, but by the same token I'm really interested to see how the competition copes, what minimisation steps are taken - how many games can be played before someone becomes infected, and whether it triggers any outbreak at all. It's almost a bit of test case for the wider community because it's so visual. It delivers more meaning once you are closer connected. Don't mistake me, I'm desperately hoping no one contracts it, be it footy or someone on the street, but I think it will fuel knowledge about what lengths we all need to move toward to remain safe in our own daily lives, even you Mr Bo....![]()
There is a vaccine for measles. There are measles outbreaks too but we don’t stop the world waiting for the next one do we , and quit being a smart arse, doesnt suit you
Had this discussion with a friend the other night in regard local football/netball, but think it holds true at the highest level.
What will happen (as it inevitably always does) is, if we have a season, one team will eventually be crowned premier and then be subjected to six months, or more likely years, of taunts about it being compromised, tarnished, inconsequential, unfair as Team X didn't play Team Y and Team Z got six games at home and most everyone else got five.
Of course said winning team supporters will brush it off with the 'we all played under the same rules' etc. etc.
At the end of the day it will depend on which team you support and where they end up on the ladder as to the success of a compromised or shortened season.
Me thinks we'll be lucky to see a season and the AFL should make the call sooner rather than later. Anything after July would likely be a waste of time.
It's compromised every year, look at the easy fixture the bottom 8 teams get, Geelong get home ground adavantages that no other vic teams get ectThe season is compromised.
flag will be tainted if its anyone but us ea girls or gaints winning itHad this discussion with a friend the other night in regard local football/netball, but think it holds true at the highest level.

As tugga says, most people are vaccinated against measles, so that's an irrelevant and disingenuous comparison. There are measles outbreaks too but we don’t stop the world waiting for the next one do we , and quit being a smart arse, doesnt suit you

I'll quit being a smart arse when you quit being a whiny blowhard Karen who thinks he knows better than the best medical and scientific knowledge. You think it's an accident Australia and New Zealand have such low incidence of cases, when people are dying in their tens and hundreds of thousands in places that didn't lock down as quickly or completely? Sorry Bo, you're a good fella but one of the things that shits me the most in these times is people pointing to our low case numbers as proof we overreacted - the "Oh, look at all those empty ICU beds, we shut down the economy for nothing" ******* nonsense coming from Murdoch hacks and IPA ******s. We acted relatively quickly and saved lives, but the exponential nature of this thing means it remains a constant threat. The USA went from 15 cases to 83,000 deaths in two months. We're not special. We're not magic.
We could have quashed it if the government had acted sooner, shut down the borders quicker, not allowed Morrison's happy clapper buddies off the Ruby Princess, and we could still eliminate it now if we're all prepared to sacrifice for a little longer. But some will always want to whinge about freedom and how they should be able to tongue kiss a bat if they want. And it seems mostly to be Boomers, the most privileged, kissed-on-the-dick generation in human history.
Rant over.

Wasn't it on the Gold Coast or somewhere in QLD that they went to after their 2017 humiliation which resulted in the blindfolded in vans, Richmond song being played, trauma meltdown?Heh heh heh. Bogelaide Crows ..... they've stuffed their season up before it's even started again.
