hey people i was wondering where sellar is? why isnt he playing SANFL?? Why didnt adelaide give him a chance? i know people say hes not ready but look at how we have played westhoff and he didnt seem ready.

Injured again at the moment. He's struggled all year with varies injuries, and couldn't get a game in the SANFL seniors when he wasn't sidelined.
Westhoff is almost 3 years older than Sellar - James is still very very young and a long way away from being ready for AFL. Hopefully he can get a full preseason under his belt and keep pushing forward next year.

Ah ok what is his injury? ive watched sellar play b4 and i thought he could get a go in the crows team, they shoulda gave him a run ahead of Gill(the next perrie).westhoff is 20 but his like a stick compared to sellar and sellar went at like pick 12 and westhoff was in the 70's.

playing for Glenelg Reserves.

Crows will keep him as a "project player"

still 2 years away from getting a game at the Crows.
he might play some NAB cup games in 08

I actually can't recall - it wasn't anything serious, and he may have already returned - I recall hearing he kicked 3 goals in the reserves on Gallman last week. Still, he had a limited preseason and was sidelined for much of the first half of the year, and has missed games here and there with minor niggles. Had a shocker with injury.
He hasn't been able to get a game with the Glenelg seniors. His form really hasn't been good enough to warrant an AFL game.
He's still learning to play as a forward.

As for richcogs's question, I haven't seen enough of him to comment. He hasn't had the first year we would have hoped he would, but he's certainly got the talent. Time will tell.

thanks, I really wanted him come draft day and I think he'll be a player. But I'm happy with Riewoldt and you guys should be wrapped with Sellar! It was just a great draft!

Edit

Injury.

to be honest we are wrapped we picked him up, its just none of us can be patient with him. We want him playing now and tearing games apart like Franklin!!! I hope it happens one day!!

Yes.

He'll be a star.

He's still only 18, how many 18 year old KPP's do you see running around in the AFL?

Tomahawk would have played every AFL game for any other club this year, Nathan Ablett's keeping him out, lol :thumbsd:.

The Tomahawk!

But I guess he has his massive frame in his favour.

Yes.. let's give an injured kid who has mainly played reserves a run over a bloke who has dominated the SANFL since joining North. Sack Craig and get this bloke in, he's an ideas man.

I reckon he might step up and play some minor round games next year.

I seriously doubt that will happen. He needs to get fit and confident, start playing regular league footy before we throw him in the deep end.

You love talking the kids up and you seem to want us to have a team full of 18 year olds with pace running around.

Just when Sellsy gets injured again (after good form in the 2's) our FF picks up an injury, forcing him to miss at least this week. (Not sure of the severity)

Rotten timing, ties in with the rotten luck he's had all year. Of the curse that we've had over us this year, Sell has been one of the the hardest hit.

This is not a troll.

Do you guys see yourselves taking another forward or KPP with your first round pick this year? I rate Sellar and was amazed he slid to you guys, but it sounds like he's not quite there yet.

Just sizing up the first round of this year's draft.

Ta.

Good Q.

I fully expect (as most do) that we will take a pacy midfielder with our first selection. Well, we need to anyway.

We took David MacKay last year, who sort of fits this bill, but we need another one with some pace.

We have an absolute bucketload of talls, and because Sellar + Kurt (to an extent) slipped alot further than we expected, we went alot taller than we intended to last year.

Well, you're going to be way ahead of Port in the Brad Ebert stakes. Pick 10... you'd be doing well to get him, but you're not without hope. :thumbsu:

I think a lot will depend on the pre-season. If he can get a huge pre-season in and remain injury free, I think he is a chance to play a handful of games next year. Not come in and play at a high level but get in and get a taste of it in say at most half a dozen games.

If he has an average PS and continues to linger in reserves or on the brink of seniors, I think he is no chance to get games next year.
