Where should Smith play?

During pre-season everyone was talking up Smith to move up to the wing and into the midfield rotations. Now that we've clearly been struggling in defence and moving the ball out of defence everyone is hoping he will come back in and provide that run.. People have also been saying that Mookay should be played on the wing and not as a defender because he is more dangerous/effective there. Isn't this a very similar situation to smith?

Anyway where do you think smith should play when he comes back?

I'd love to see him start on the wing. Back the defence from last week, whilst it was only Western Bulldogs, they did a good job. Then if we need him down back make the change.

His skill level and ability to run and carry is sorely missed in our current backline.

Defensive woes?? Bulldogs kicked 4 goals (including 2 from midfielder Cooney)... what woes??

Defence - I was never an advocate for him going into the middle while our defence is a weakpoint. Not saying he shouldnt aspire to be in there, just think we have enough in there at present whereas our back bit lacks

Tell him to follow Andrew Walker like he did Goodes in the second half of the Elimination final, as he eases back into AFL footy. Should be more or less a full time midfielder once he's settled though, but he's still a very handy option to chuck back in defence when we need him.

I like Smith on the HBF rotating through the midfield.

I do imagine in a few years time he'll me a midfielder but we can worry about that then

So next week, Sando game plan will be reminiscent of an under 8's game. 22 midfielders around the ball.

It's about developing a balanced squad of players. we have Dangerfield, Sloane, Crouch, Wright, Van Berlo, Scott Thompson, MacKay and now Kerridge already in the midfield. Then you add Lyons who can nopt get a game after 3 best on grounds for the bays. If you then try and add Smith who you want to goes in, who comes out?
